"We can't die like this, can we?" Victor asked, not expecting an answer.
"Listen" Axis said, with a stern look on her face. "There has to be some way to beat these things.Let's just try to stay alive, aight?"
"Alright, Axis, let's focus on not getting cleaved in half."
Both of the monsters were clad in sentient-looking armor, head to toe.They seemed to resemble minotaurs, with strange horns on their heads, and glowing red eyes hidden beneath their fancy metal helmets.They also seemed to be enraged, with nothing running running through their minds besides to chop Victor and Axis up like Sushi with their Axes the size of tree trunks.They had to do something.
"How can we manage to penetrate their armor though?"Victor wondered out loud.
"Are there any weapons in here?"Axis asked.
"There's nothing in here besides you, I, and these homicidal beasts." Victor answered back."Maybe we can find out?"
As Victor said that, both beasts jumped up in the air, landing axe-first in the tile flooring where he and Axis were standing just moments before, but managed to dodge away from before the animals' impact.
"Kill, Kill, Kill, Kill…" the beasts muttered, completely focused on ending the Heroes' young lives.
"J-Jesus Christ…" Victor stuttered out, as he gasped for the air that had been knocked out of him.
"Damn, they don't seem to vulnerable in the back of their armor either." Axis stated, as she managed to get a good look at the beasts' backsides before they turned around to take another strike at the 2 of them.
"They're readying for another attack, Axis."
"Crap, how can these things be stopped!?!?!" Axis shouted."Does armor like that usually have any vulnerabilities?"
"Well," Victor answered. "I'm guessing that they're both wearing plate armor.And since thick metal can't be flexed very easily, their arm joints, leg joints, and neck are probably unarmored so that they can be moved."
"Right, so those are the places that can be attacked."Axis said confidently.
"But we still don't have any weapons to strike with."
"Yeah, I forgot about that.Well there has to be something that we can use…"
The beasts, almost immediately after Axis ended her sentence, viciously charged shoulder rams at her and Victor.The both of them barely managed to jump out of the way before the monsters crashed into the thick, seemingly impenetrable wall behind them.As the monsters crashed into the wall, shards of metal scattered about the area, one shard managing to knick Victor's ankle, slightly cutting into his flesh.
"Ow, damnit, we can't keep this up forever." Victor stated, as he held his injured ankle.
"Wait, maybe, just maybe…"Axis said, as she reached down to pick up 2 shards of previous-walling, and handed one to Victor.
"What the hell am I supposed to do with this?" Victor asked, before getting a dark, glim expression on his face."Wait, you don't mean…"
"These shards can be used as weapons.Let's try to cut their necks with them." Axis said, with a cocky smirk on her face.
"What!?!" Victor yelled. "How are we going to get close enough to their necks to hurt them with these things before they chop us down with their building-sized weapons!?!"
"Not to mention," Victor continued. "Even if we DO get passed their weapons, these things are 15 feet tall!How are we going to get to their necks?And how do we even know if these wall fragments can cut into their thick hide?"
"Listen." Axis responded. "Do you have a better idea!?!"
"Well…no."
"Well, what else can we do!?!Let's give it a shot.The worst that can happen is-"
"-they turn us into fire wood" Victor finished the sentence for her.
"Yeah, but that'll happen anyways if we give don't try anything!"
"….All right." Victor sighed."Let's give it a shot."
"Awesome." Axis smirked.
The beasts, probably angered by their 2 previous failures at eliminating the Heroes, had grown even more angry, charging everywhere they could, with their axes high above their heads.
"Aight," Axis said in a slight "gangsta" accent."If we are going to do this, this would be the time to."
"Agreed."Victor answered back, with a small smirk on his face."Shall we rock?"
"Yeah, les' rock!" Axis yelled back, with the same smirk on her face.
Victor and Axis both charged at the monsters with their chunks of metal in hand, determined to damage, if not kill, the creatures hell-bent on slicing and smashing them to death.After managing to dodge roll out of the way of one of the monsters' shoulder rams, Axis jumped up, slicing her weapon into the shin of the beast, resulting in a loud yelp, gaining the attention of Victor and the other beast, who were handling their battle on the other side of the room.
"I think I got a good hit in!"Axis yelled with positivity, while the creature started to turn around to counter attack Axis.
"Axis, watch it!"Victor yelled, trying to warn his teammate and friend of the danger.
But it was too late.The monster Victor was fighting, worried about his fearsome teammate, quickly charged to help in the slaughter of Axis, leaving Victor alone on the other side of the room.As the second monster charged to the other side of the room, Axis quickly jumped out of the way, attempting to throw her shard of metal into the neck of the giant beast, but missed, and left her defenseless.The first monster quickly grabbed Axis by the waist in one hand, and slammed her into the wall, slightly cracking the metal into pieces, and knocking the wind out of Axis.She struggled to get out of the beast's powerful grip, but it was to strong, and she was stuck there, as the second beast raised it's axe to chop Axis into 2.As the beast swung, she screamed, and quickly ducked, managing to miss the beast's attack by inches.
"Axis, no!"Victor screamed, nearly crying.
"Victor…don't worry about me, I won't die…not from these…things.." Axis said, clearly losing her energy from the amount of pressure compressing on her lungs, not allowing her to breath very deeply.
Victor was terrified.Was he about to see his new friend, murdered by 2 giant horned monsters!?!He didn't know what to do.The second monster used his free hand to hold Axis's head in place as it readied it's second strike: making sure that, this time, he would not miss.Victor tried throwing his metal shard into the beast's neck, but didn't even come close from hitting it.
As the monster's axe came closer to Axis's neck, her and Victor both clearly terrified from what was about to happen, the mysterious voice Victor had been speaking to earlier rang in his head.
"Everyone needs a Hero to save them at some point, no matter who they are."
Victor finally knew what he needed to do.
"I need a Hero, to save me now!!!"Victor screamed at the top of his lungs, stopping the two beasts in their tracks, which cause them to drop their weapons-and Axis-down to the ground, allowing her to regain her breath.
As Victor yelled, a strange light started to appear from Victor's skull.Suddenly, as if from nowhere, a tall, broad figure appeared in front of Victor, Axis, and the two murderous creatures.
"I am Adamus, the Hero of Electricity." The tall, god-like figure spoke, in the same voice as the one that Victor had talked to in the hallway."I have come to save a life from the brinks of death."
Adamus was wearing a very tough, heavy looking set of armor, with the helmet opened to reveal his snow-white face, and blood-red eyes.The armor was different shades of yellow and gold: Kind of like it was made of brass and bronze, showing very artistic patterns of gold.
"I grant the newer Hero, Victor, the ability to use the Saku of Electricity, and the sword I used in the great war long ago.Powerhouse."
"Powerhouse?Strange…yet awesome." Victor thought to himself.
Powerhouse had a design similar to that of Adamus's armor.The same beautiful, swirling, almost striking patterns, in the same Bronze and Brass colored metal.It had an arm guard resting next to the smooth textured metal handle, and was light weight like a feather, yet still held a powerful and sturdy feeling that the Ancient Hero's armor gave the impression of.
"You have the power to overcome any battle if you try hard enough.Never give up hope, and never accept death without a proper fight." The Hero said, as he slowly disappeared into the strange light, and Victor's and the beast's attention went back to each other.
"The…hell was that?" Axis said, still slightly dazed.
"I'll try to take these things out." Victor said, grinning. "Try to catch your breath."
"S-Shut Up!"Axis said, annoyed at the fact that she would be forced to not participate in the battle.
Both beasts, seeming to grow angrier and fiercer with each passing second, charged at Victor.Victor slid between the 2 of them, momentarily confusing them as to where he was.While they still had their backs turned, Victor quickly sliced his new blade, holding it backwards in his hand, into the leg of one of the beasts, dropping it down on the ground with it's leg nearly severed from it's body.Victor then quickly jumped onto it's body, rising his sword above the head of the armored monster before stabbing in between the creature's glowing red eyes, killing it, and reducing it's body to neon-blue ash.
"What the hell just happened!?!"Victor screamed, as he fell off the ash-filled chest plate that once held the homicidal creature.
"Victor, pay attention to the fight!!!" Axis yelled, as the second creature raised it's axe to avenge his partner.
Before Victor could react, the 1 remaining beast, now more furious and frustrated than ever, quickly launched his axe down onto Victor, landing him in the same predicament that Axis was in not minutes before.Victor's eyes filled with terror at the axe that was milliseconds away from cleaving his head off his body.Axis, planning to return the favor to the friend who had saved her, quickly screamed the same summoning quote.
"I need a Hero, to save me now!!!"She screamed, the anger altering her voice to make her sound like she was singing screamo.
Both the beast's and Victor's attentions turned to Axis, who now had a light shooting from the top of her scalp, similar to what had happened to her friend.Suddenly, as if from nowhere, a tall dark figure appeared from the light.
"I am Nicolaes, the Hero of Death."The figure said in a low, foreboding, slightly scratchy voice. "I have come to save a life from the brinks of death."
Nicolaes looked very different from Adamus.He had a very skinny figure, donned in smooth, dark-as-night armor.Instead of a Helmet, the Hero wore a black hood on his head, which covered both his eyes, along with the upper half of his nose.What little of his face that could be seen was pale white, almost transparent, covered in gruesome, red scars that seemed to add to his terrifying appearance, along with his red-stained cape, which hung from his neck down to his feet.
"I grant the newer Hero, Axis, the ability to use the Saku of Death, and the Chakrams I fought with in the great war long ago, Reapers."
"The Reapers…not very original…but they're still awesome." Axis said, a smirk on her face.
The Reapers had a strange, disturbing look to them.They were 2 simple rings, black in color, with small smudges of dried blood on the blades of the weapons.They each had one single black handle in the center of them, which felt like a kind of wood, painted black to match the circular blades.
"You have the power to overcome any battle if you try hard enough.Never give up hope, and never accept death without a proper fight." The Hero said, as he slowly disappeared into the strange light, and left Axis, Victor, and the one remaining monster by themselves in the large, empty room.
At that time, something besides anger could be seen in the beast's eyes: Fear.
"Shall I finish this?"Axis said confidently.
"…Yeah, end it." Victor said back, smiling at his friend.
Axis then threw both of her Chakrams at the monster.The first sliced through the monster's hands, severing them from the beast, and causing it to scream in agony as it dropped it's axe to the ground.The second chakram was aimed straight for the creature's neck, and sliced right through, turning the thing into ash like it's friend, and ending the fight.The chakrams made U-Turns in the air like boomerangs, and quickly flew back to Axis, who easily caught them in her hands.
"Damn, did we survive that?" Axis said, surprised and happy.
"I think so."Victor replied, also surprised and happy.
As the 2 Heroes caught their breath, Adamus and Nicolaes both appeared in front of them, readied to speak.
"Congratulations, young Heroes." Adamus said to the 2.
"I trust you now, at least vaguely, know what to do?"Nicolaes spoke afterward.
At that point, Axis and Victor both heard a clicking noise behind them, revealing the pitch black door that had mysteriously disappeared, and was open, revealing the long hallway, with a second door in it also open.
"…Yes, but only vaguely." Victor answered back.
"Good." Adamus said."There are still 13 more like you trapped in this place.You must find them, unite with them, and end the Great War."
"Got it." Axis responded.
"Good luck." Both Ancient Heroes said, as they disappeared into nothing-ness.
As Victor and Axis stared at the door, they both smiled.They knew that there was a long road ahead of them, but were not faltered as they looked at each other, and spoke.
"Ready?"Axis asked.
"Of course, les' rock." Victor said confidently.
"…Don't use my phrases," Axis said, as the 2 entered the hallway, and then the next door, not knowing what to expect from the room ahead of them.
