If you want a fast pace, jumping about, vehicle filled, alien shooting game then i guess a game like Halo 3 would suit you. Its also great with friends online.
If you want a more serious shooter you should get a military shooter like Call Of Duty 4 - Pretty much everyone and their dads are playing this game =D
Shadowruns also a pretty good game to play... I played it a bit and wasnt really into it but you might. Download the demo off the marketplace and check it out if you want.
