[QUOTE="Maroxad"]

Since the game does not even have PvP at the moment. Can someone explain to me what is wrong with the RMAH?

I mean, it is not like someone spending real money to improve their character will have a negative impact on my experience? Right? Besides it is not like Real Money Transactions were a big part of Diablo 2.

The RMAH is a good thing, because,

  • It results in less scams
  • It funds blizzard, which in turn means more support
  • It may very much increase competition
  • You can make money, while playing a game you like

That's like saying Blizzard should allow the selling of full-on epic geared level 85 players in WoW because it would result in less scams, support Blizzard, and make players money. The entire reason I don't support it is because I don't want to support making it easier for cheaters to be allowed to continue to cheat, give Blizzard money so they can continue this practice, or try to 'resolve' a case of something being being previously illegal by promoting it.

That's like saying legalizing drugs would be a great idea to stop the selling of drugs. Well yeah, it could reduce crime, support the economy and all that, but that's entirely irrelevant if I'm against people taking drugs in the first place. People seem to, in this case, fallaciously associate the aforementioned example with legalizing the 'crime' of buying virtual goods, with the end result benefiting everyone. It's fallacious because it tries to apply real-world dynamics to a virtual word.

What the hell are you talking about? such bad analogies. Buying virtual goods is in high demand, it was only ever banned out of sportsmanship, but then you realize that a game is about enjoyment, its not play it win, because the best weapons will be so rare anyway. If they made a pay for auction house in WoW it would effect nothing.... because you cant get the best gear that way. You make it sound like there will be hundreds of legendaries on the RMAH and everyone is buying them, its stupid. Not to metion Inferno will hardly be bottable .... these farmers are going to actually have to try in 4 player groups.

[QUOTE="PC360Wii"][QUOTE="SkyWard20"]

I don't give a crap about the 'online-only' requirement. I play many games that are 'online-only'. The only way I could b1tch about this is if I were to go on about 'the principle of the matter', which I'm not doing. Otherwise it doesn't mean squat for a game that was primarily designed for online play in the first place, at least not to me.

I will not be getting the game (not without a significant discount, at least) because of the real money/pay 2 win auction house, and yes, it IS pay to win.

SkyWard20

How do you win by paying exactly? what do you win....

Gear, obviously. By paying you'll always be faster at getting the best loot. Just because there's a slight chance that you may also get comparable gear (knowing Blizzard, a 2% drop rate, most likely) without paying, doesn't make it not pay to win. If you're playing a F2P MMO that always sells you the best gear through an in-game store with real money, does it matter at all if the super high-end boss you keep raiding might at some point drop loot just as good as the guy who paid for it has, the guy who's had a complete set six months before you with 0 effort put into it?

Does that make an MMO like that 'not pay 2 win'?

edit: I mean it's obvious that the best gear in the game will probably have a pretty low drop rate, and a dedicated player would have to go a long way to get it, while a total noob could just as easily buy the whole thing off the auction house. Probably some college student who thinks he's 'rich'.

You dont have to pay to win though... why does it matter what people you never play with do? I can see the bigger concern with mmos (even then, its life vs money worth ... and should be allowed.) but a single to 4 player co-op game? what a pathetic reason to whine about a game.... Its not like its even remotly as hard to get the best gear as it is in a mmo.

[QUOTE="xLittlekillx"]

The reason the game has to always be online is the same reason that there can't be any modding: The real money auction house. If you let people play the game offline and store their characters locally, then people could potentially cheat, hack or mod in any weapon they want. If people can do this, then Blizzard feels less emphasis will be put on auctions, and if less people participate in the real money auction house, then blizzard makes less money.

SKaREO

Well the reason has nothing to do with the RMAH. Have you played StarCraft II at all? It also requires the Internet to activate. Once you have verified your account on Battle Net you can play offline as often as you like. I hope this helps some n00bs.

What? its not the same thing at all. You cant play Diablo 3 offline ever. While Starcraft II you can. xLittleKillx is 100% correct, allowing offline play would lower to potential profit from the auction house, this is simple common sense.

[QUOTE="DanielDust"][QUOTE="illmatic87"]It depends on how its RMAH is delivered to me. I dont want to participate in such thing, but being always online could run the risk of that economy being forced upon me. Is there still no PVP at launch? Because that is almost half the reason why an always online was reasonable in the first place..

It's completely independent, the only way to access any kind of AH, gold or real money is through the main menu, nothing will be forced on you. No, since it didn't launch already and it not having PvP because there's not enough time to make it as good as it should be, didn't change.

Am I right in guessing PvP will have different ability calculations? because monks have a damn 60% damage return aura ... that is fine in PvE since monsters hit alot lower numbers ... but that kind of ability will kill a demon hunter off easily.

[QUOTE="brofists"] DAMN RIGHT, those games looked better. Watch this and be informed my ignorant one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CBd6QX8npsbrofists

Even in that video it is obvious that Crysis 2 is better in many ways...lighting, character models, textures, physics, scale, detail.

Haha I knew PC fanboys were going to get their panties in a bunch over that video. Its ok bro, you can admit what you see in that video I.e that K3 looks better in pretty much every respect. You don't have to live in.denial

ITs getting old here, it seems the only people who defend consoles now are pretty much trolls lacking a sense of reality or provoking for no reason.
