Batman: Arkham Asylum Video Preview - Impressions

[video=6203810]

Impressions:

Generally, games based on movies/cartoons or vice-versa are bad. They simply lack of action, storyline and gameplay. Besides that, they are developed by companies no one heard about them or companies like EA which gives **** games to all of us.
I played a lot of games like those ones. I am not afraid to admit it, but yes, I played them and they are bad. Some of them aren't even near the standards of a proper game. Check Iron Man: The Video Game. That's a really good example. Anyway, there is a game in partically which I liked it very much, and that's Spider-Man: Webs of Shadow. It had an original, great gameplay, no bugs nor glitches, it had some RPG elements in it and it was based on a famous cartoon hero, Spider-Man. If games which are based on movies/cartoons were like Spider-Man: Webs of Shadow, then the gaming world would've been better.
Now, it's Batman's turn to show up, and I have to say that this video preview really impressed me. Not many games have graphics like this one. Seeing these grahics made me think of how much video memory do I need to run it at full power on my computer. 128 MB? No away! 256 MB? Probably. 512 MB? Most likely. I am really sorry for my PC.
Graphics are great, but what about the gameplay? Well, seeing this preview didn't convinced me that there will be a proper gameplay. Not many "in game-footage" scenes. But I hope it will be great, because I trust Eidos, unlike EA.

batman arkham asylum

Maybe the best part of this game is the storyline. Joker, Killer Croc, Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, The Penguin and even more emenies of Batman, all of them in one game and in which better place than Arkham Asylum. Joker is caught and sent there, and magically, he takes the control of the prison and makes everyone to fight against the Dark Knight (Batman duh!). The atmosphere is spooky and very sinister. Just perfect for a plot like this one.
I am really impressed with this game so far. The game looks like a proper one and I can see that it goes to a right direction. Batman: Arkham Asylum might turn out as a remarkable game and maybe the best game based on a movie/cartoon since Spider-Man: Webs of Shadow....or it might turn out as another **** game, which I'll throw it in the recycle bin. My advice is to still stay in touch with the game because it looks very promising.

Under Review

Hi guys! What's up?

I got a new game called Return To Castle Wolfenstein. It's an old game, but I heard it's good, especially the multiplayer. By the way, it's the Extended Edition, therefore it has RTCW: Enemy Territory. ;)

Impressions (Single-player):

Unlike in the original Wolfenstein 3D, only a handful of the single player missions in Return to Castle Wolfenstein take place in the infamous castle/prison. The single player game takes place in Nazi-occupied Europe during 1943 and revolves around U.S. Army Ranger William "B.J." Blazkowicz, who, along with another agent, is sent to investigate rumors surrounding one of Heinrich Himmler's personal projects, the SS Paranormal Division. The agents are, however, captured before completing their mission and are imprisoned in Castle Wolfenstein.

rtcw

Taking the role of Blazkowicz, the player must escape the castle and continue investigating the activities of the SS Paranormal Division, which include research on resurrecting corpses, biotechnology, and secret weapons. During the game the player will face numerous foes, including Waffen SS soldiers, elite Fallschirmjager (paratroopers), legions of undead creatures, and horrific Ubersoldaten(supersoldiers) formed from a hideous blend of surgery and chemical engineering co nducted by Wilhelm "Deathshead" Strasse. The end boss is an undead Saxon warrior-prince named Heinric I.

Well, that was the story, and what I could say is that it's great. It keeps the same atmosphere and gameplay as in Wolfenstein 3D which was an awesome game at its times. I didn't have any problems with bugs and glitches during the game so far, therefore I experienced its full potential.

Impressions (Multiplayer):

Wolf MP is an objective game mode, in which both the Axis and Allies have a series of objectives to complete to win the round, with one team's objectives normally preventing the other team from completing their objectives. There are primary and secondary objectives. Primary objectives have to be achieved to win the round, where secondary objectives don't necessarily need to be achieved, but can aid in certain ways in completing primary objectives. Primary objectives include blowing something up, or escaping with the documents, and secondary objectives include capturing flag/spawn points.

As far as the clases are concerned, medics can leave medic packs to heal comrades, but can run out of ammunition quickly. Lieutenants can provide packs of ammo, as well as calling for air strikes, but need a medic to stay alive. Engineers are able to blow up walls using dynamite. Lastly, ordinary soldiers can choose between four different heavy weapons.

On a side note, despite advocacy on the part of some of the player base, a few weapons were left out of Wolf MP, most notably the Tesla Gun and the FG-42 Paratrooper rifle.

The only thingy I observed annoying in multiplayer, is that the Thompson is the most effective weapon in the game. Really, it's very effective. It's true. Check this chart I found on Google.

RTCW Weapons

Overall:

Overall, I feel that this game is great and it's worth the money. Don't forget this is just a preview. I just finished Level 3 so, be aware! ;)

Want I Want From 2009

After my Best of 2008, obviously, I must talk a little bit about things I wish in 2009.

In 2009 there are a lot of promissing games, especially on PC. Games I wish to put my hands on are:

F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Doom 4, Mass Effect 2 (working title), Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction, Wolfenstein, Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Diablo III etc.

These just some of the games I wish. Actually, these are my most wanted games this year. So, as I said, this looks a brilliant year for PC. All the clasics are coming back (Diablo III, Wolfenstein, Starcraft 2, Doom 4 ring any bell?).

That was what I wanted to put my hands on. I also want the following things from some companies:

-I want a new sequel for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

-I want a new sequel for World of Goo.

-I want a new sequel for Crysis.

-I want more games from Crytek.

-I want more clasics to come this year like Warcraft 4 (there are some rumours about it), Fable, Monkey Island, Quake, Commandos, Half-life etc.

-I want more games that test you brain, but not games like Brain Age.

-No more crappy EA games (yeah sure).

-No more Fallout games, although I read that some people are working on a MMORPG for Fallout (oh no!).

-No more GTA games for at least another 3 years.

And these are only a few things companies should think of. Well see ya later! ;)

My 2008 Awards

Hi, guys! Long time no see. ;)

Again, I haven't been on GS for like 2 weeks. I have to do my homework, tests, take care of my company, my company's website and feed my dog. I hate when I am not active on GS. I remember last year or at least in 2007, geez! I was spending my whole day on GS and it was awesome. But now, mu time has been reduced. It's like every second of my life is reduced. Oh, well! The best part is that I'll be more active starting next week or this Friday.

Did anyone noticed that it's almost the end of January and no one got the Best of 2008 badge? What a shame. I count on GS that they will remind themselfs about this minor thing. Now to the main point. The Best of 2008 just ended for like almost a month ago. Checking some of you blogs, I saw that many of you made your own Best of 2008. Well obvious, I'll make my own one now. Before you check my winners, I want to say that all the categories will be for PC games because I don't play too much console games and I'll keep everything simple. OK, here we go:

Best PC Game: World of Goo

Worst PC Game: NFS Undercover

-----------------------------------------------------------

Buggiest PC Game: Grand Theft Auto IV

Best Innovative PC Game: Mirror's Edge

-----------------------------------------------------------

Best FPS: Left 4 Dead

Best Survival/Horror: Dead Space

Best RPG: Mass Effect

Best Strategy: Sins of a Solar Empire

Best Simulator: FIFA 09

Best Racing: GRID

Best MMO: WoW: Wrath of the Lich King

Best Childish: LEGO Indiana Jones/LEGO Batman

Best Click-Based: Dracula Origin

Best Web-Based: eRepublik

Best Clasic: Fallout 3

That's my opinion and what I felt when I played the games. Btw, check this:http://mirceacalarasu.webs.com. Give feedback. :P

See ya soon guys! ;)

UPDATE: For the best RPG game, I changed it to Mass Effect. It deserves it more than Fallout 3. ;)

2 More Days.....and Gooooo

2 more days left till the New Year. 2009....ufff. I wonder what 2009 will bring us. The previous year was just fine for PC gamers, but will next year be better? No one knows.

Now that I have Level 3 on GS, I can finally review games. So far in one day I reviewed Far Cry 2, Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne, FIFA 09, Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, Counter-Strike and World of Goo. Wow! World of Goo really impressed me. One of the greatest PC games of 2008. Can you believe that the game was developed by an indie person who once worked at EA. Yeah, take that EA.

world of goo

The review of World of Goo was a big one. I wanted to show all the aspects of it. I wanted the world to know how great this game is. Wow. Right now I want more Gooooooooooo!!!!

Happy New Year!

happy new year

UPDATE: I found out another GS glitch. All the games in my Tracked, Collection, Wished and Playing Right Now have dissapeared. But when I try to add them back, the window (you know which one) shows that I have them in my categories. I can prove that, because although I don't have them in my categories, but in my profile on the right side where shows the games I play right now they are still there. Damn glitch! :(

My Name Is Mircea Inc.

What's My Name Is Mircea Inc.?

Well, My Name Is Mircea Inc. is a small company I formed on Youtube during my absence from GS.

The company started making their own staff since 16th of October 2008. At the moment, My Name Is Mircea Inc. works behind The Irate Mircea Show, Wireless, The Spook's Apprentice: The Video Game, My Name is Mircea series and finally the Behind The Scenes series.

The company is doing just fine now, having 21 subscribers and their views starting to grow gently. The company is formed by me, my cousin, Bagonaf and Kenneth Will. As you can see on the videos, I do most of the videos. :D

The Irate Mircea Show:

This is a show were I review games, mostly bad games. It contains bad language, but I use them to show how people react to these games. In this show I am the Irate Mircea (fictional character). This character represents all the people/gamers who think that in life there are only games and they are very obsessed about them.

Wireless:

This is a a band My Name Is Mircea Inc. is working on. The first video will be featured after the winter holidays.

The Spook's Apprentice: The Video Game

This a video game My Name Is Mircea Inc. is working on using RPG Maker VX. The game is based on the book called The Spook's Apprentice/The Last Apprentice (US only). The game is half done. Huraay!!!

My Name Is Mircea series:

This a show My Name Is Mircea Inc. is working on. Unfortunately, the show was delayed so many times due to the lack of ideas. It's possible that the show will be cancelled.

Behind The Scenes:

Here the company show how we develop the videos. There only 2 videos so far.

So, we are very busy, plus during school we are very busy (especially me). Still if you like our videos, don't forget to subscribe on our channel. (type on Youtube "my name is mircea" or "my name is mircea inc.")

Gamespot's Best of 2008 - Review

I might be too late to vote the games in GS-Best of 2008, but somehow I did. Maybe another GS glitch. He he he!

The games which were nominated there were fair enough. ;)I agree 80% of what GS voted. Only one thing shocked me. No Gears of War 2 and Fable 2. Wow! That's....ehhh...wow. I might not be the biggest fan of Gears of War 2 or Fable 2 (especially this one) but come on, give them at least a place in a category. I think they deserve a place. Strange why GS didn't even bother puting them there.

After doing more research, I found out that Gears of War 2 wasn't nominated because it was released after GS made the preliminaries. It was too late for the game. About Fable 2? Well, I have no idea.

Seeing all these people complaining about GS's nominees made me quite sad. :( People stop trusting GS lately because of their bad, overrated and unfair reviews etc. I personally believe that GS does a great job. Not out-standing, but great. Still, people start to leave especially to IGN or other sites. I dislike IGN. They really give high rates to games that don't deserve to have at most a 7.

I think 2008 was the best year for console games. Fable 2, Resistance 2, Gears of War 2, GTA IV, Metal Gear Solid 4 and many more great games have been released on consoles. Sad that the PC version was kept in the shadows of the consoles this year. No PC game got a higher rate than 9, when the console games got even a 10. :( Hey! Cheer up!!! We still have Crysis: Warehead, GTA IV, Fallout 3 and Left 4 Dead. ;) But let's admit it. Consoles ruled over PC this year. Damn!
