Gerstmann, GameSpot part ways .... a sad day for Gamespot.

Yeah, really a shame. They've fired one of their best reviewers and expect people to buy into their denial of the fact that Jeff had to go because a conflict with an advertiser. Why else can't they comment on this issue? Why else would they fire one of their best and most popular? Why else doesn't Gamespot give Jeff the opportunity to say goodbye and explain?

Jeff's reviews have been rather good over the years and although he too has written some 'fanboy-ish' reviews and some 'bashes' in the past that were unneccessary, at least he was one of the more objective and honest persons. At least it seems that way to me.

Did you people notice that Jeff's original review of Kane & Lynch got edited? He scored the game well below 60 when my memory serves me well and somehow it's not possible to User Review that game anymore. Well to hell with Gamespot. The game isn't good and Eidos had it coming assuming the whole thing stinks.

It does stink according to many many users here and although some are simply sad and upset about how a great reviewer got fired, it's pretty essential to note that a lot of users see no reason whatsoever why Gamespot OR CNet for that matter would ever want to fire Jeff.

Gamespot's official news post about Jeff's firing is pretty lame and it's no wonder people can't get through posting their critique anymore, because that official post only raised more suspicion.

Be clever Gamespot and tell us why Jeff got fired, instead of saying that it 'wasn't Eidos' ... prove us that it wasn't Eidos by explaining what it ís. Even if Jeff somehow comitted a crime, it would be best to say sómething, instead of keep people in the dark about this.

Do understand that it's a serious issue when members think the reviewers are being paid by Eidos or other companies to rate their games well and so on, understand that a lot of people might leave Gamespot and go where-ever Jeff is going. Understand that leaving the questions unanswered will cause problems at every next game Eidos will release and gets reviewed here on Gamespot....
