Hi everyone, My PS3 60 gig has been freezing alot lately (hence the topic). Its wierd that the PS3, sometimes blu-ray movies and even dvds freeze up but the PS1&2 games dont :S. The system will freeze after 10-40 mins of gameplay (depending on the PS3 game). After the system freezes, I turn it off and on again, now it will freeze at the PS menu screen after 1-2 mins. I do play this system alot, and yes i still do play PS1&2 games. I love the 60 gig, if Sony kept the backwards compatibility, I wouldnt hesitate on getting another PS3 and just throw this one in the recycling bin. I heard that if u send it back to Sony it'll come back to you without the backwards compatibily because the hardware for 60 gig is discontinued. I 've tried most of the solutions i've read online but none of them worked for me. This is what i've done so far. 1. I've restored default settings 3x - FAILED. 2. Up to date with current firmware.- FAILED 3. I've placed the system in a well ventilated area - FAILED. 4. I've bought the newest nyko intercooler with its own separate power supply - FAILED. 5. Lots of memory space still on the hardrive (not even 1/3 is used) - FAILED 6. AND finally since warranty was expired I've decided to open it up and clean the dust inside. HOLY crap it was dusty inside!! - FAILED. Please let me know if there is another solution out there. There is one i didnt try yet which was replacing the HEAT TRANSFER COMPOUND. (let me know if this worked). I sometimes wish i'd get the YLOD already if thats what its leading too becuase theres alot of videos on how to fix it. Backwards compatibility is important becuase i have 30 PS1 games, 104 PS2 games and 42. PS3 games.
