I think he probably really does like Star Wars, but says he doesn't to be different and quirky. He owns the box set for sure. It's like when people say they don't like pop music or anything mainstream, they just want to find a band that's obscure that's fairly good. That way they can impress their friends when they come over and say, hey, this is my favorite band. Friend listens to band and says, hey they're not bad, out of the same urge to be "different" the friend starts to like the band aswell, this begins the "cult following status".
