Since the SNES days Nintendo has been called kiddy by fans of different consoles. Just how true are these. Well Mario involves an oddly proportioned plumber saving princesses and talking animals from a huge turtle. That's pretty kiddy I should say. Now let's look at Zelda. Zelda is more of a mixed bag. It has featured blood and people being stabbed in the head but it also features oddly proprtioned human beings with exagerated features and talking animals. Twilight Princess tried to go to new depths with more mature themes but still failed. OMG let's save the children from the evil monkeys. Now let's look at Kirby. Kiddy ok moving on. Next is Fire Emblem. While the violence level is not very high the story line is very mature and thought provoking sometimes. However it is also in an anime style which may turn some people off but I would still call the game series fairly mature. .

At the end of the line is Metroid. This is probably Nintendo's most mature franchise. No exagerated facial features, odd proportions or talking animals. It has always had an EXTREMELY dark atmosphere. The beggining of the game you were on a seemingly abandoned ship with no signs of life detected. Then you opened the door to the Evacuation area and what you see is shociking. A huge dead creature of unknown orgin is lying in the corner with dead Spac ePirates lying around it including on that is impaled on the creatures leg. Small vermin are eating away at the bodies and shooting the vermin at close range will cause blood to splatter on your visor rendering you sightless for several seconds. Another body is impaled on a railing and live blood is drpping from his wound. In the corner is a barely living Space Pirate with bite marks on him. Shooting him will cause blood to splatter on the walls behind him. Later on you fight a live Space Pirate with a brain Hemorage. Because of it his aim is realistically off. You all see a dead space pirate that apears to have been mostly eaten. As you go thorugh you find out that the Space Pirates have been experimenting with a drug calle dPahazon on life forms. Exposure to Phazon destroys brain cells and genral life span but also raises muscle mass to the EXTREME. Later in the game you find out they have begun using Phazon on their own men forcibly. At the beggining of the second one oyu find a lost Marine task force. Their base was in the middle of hive of strange creatures. You encounter several dead Marines hanging from the cieling about to be devoured by the inhabitants aof the hive. As you go through the abandoned area you find more dead Marines on the ground and some of the raise from the dead after being possesed by a dark creature and attack you. In the 3rd one you see a mysterious mutated creature that is mostly bones with little flesh on his body and empty eye sockets. It apears to be dead, that is until it looks at you.

In other words not ALL Nintendo's game are kiddy such as Fire Emblem which has a very mature sotryline and Metroid which honestly deserves an M rating in my opinon instead of Halo getting it.
