even if i wanted to support this console (which i don't) i can't afford to pay full prices for everything i play. to date, i have played 297 games on my 360. i'd say about 30 are arcade titles so the rest are full priced retail games. if i had to pay full price for every one of those it would cost me $16,020 USD. i like games as much as the next guy, but not that much! used games keep me playing between new retail purchases. they keep the ecosystem in check and alive. many, many times i have used old games to pay for new, retail games, so in a sense their cutting off a another option to buy new games.
i was doing a little research and typically a publisher only follows the sales of their game for the first 8 weeks after release. why don't they just to a temporary ban on re-selling a game for the first 8 weeks it's out? after that they lift the restrictions and people can do whatever they want to with it since the game is not going to generate much revenue after that anyway? that way people can then get it used which could generate more revenue for the company in DLC. if a person wants to get rid of a game there obviously not planning on buying the DLC so this gives the developer/publisher a better chance of selling after market add ons. just my 2-cents. this won't help with the always-online situation but it could gain some trust back in the console if this was an option.
i believe getting in bed with M$ at this point is bad business. i stated my main reason earlier to why i'm going Sony : "5 years from now when you walk into a second hand store to get a good deal on an older, used title, how many xbox 1 games are gonna be on the shelf waiting for you to buy? NONE! THAT"S why i'm going to PS4, go check out the games on demand on Live and compare their prices to that same game used on ebay. night and frickin day. if you want to pay $40 for a 5 year old game because you're at the mercy of Microsoft pricing, have at it. i'll be playing $10 used games on my PS4." it's a shame but you gotta do what's best for you.
iv'e been with Xbox 10 years now. 10 great, fulfilled years. Up until now, i thought they did everything right, but successful companies have a way of getting too big for their bridges. i can't support a company that's going to put so many restrictions on their loyal customers. we made the Xbox the leading console by staying loyal to the platform and buying up all their products, and they repay us like this? i'm definitely getting a PS4, which blows my mind since i haven't owned a Sony console since my PS2 broke years ago. too be honest, i don't even want a PS4 but i feel if i want to game into this next-gen i have no choice, microsoft gave me no choice. 5 years from now when you walk into a second hand store to get a good deal on an older, used title, how many xbox 1 games are gonna be on the shelf waiting for you to buy? the whole rep system is a joke, it's only there for when butt-hurt players can whine about other gamers who are better than them. guaranteed all my negative feedback came from people that i was better than.
