I still have a pretty accurate memory of how it all went down, although I was really tired at the time. I really did'nt want to camp out, so I spent the previous day going to local gaming stores ( and stores that sell video game consoles among other things ) to ask what time the stores would open. After figuring out the times and finding out that my local Target would open at the earliest, I simply planned to go there. The story goes as follows... I was having this weird dream where I was throwing a house party and my ex girlfriend shows up and...uh, nevermind.... Anyway, I woke up instantly as my alarm woke me up. I knew exactly what to do, because I had it all set up in my mind weeks prior. This was gonna be my day to finally get a Nintendo Wii. I quickly washed up, brushed my teeth, woke up my mom ( I must have been pretty irratable(sp?), because now that I look back, I must've been annoying. )
When I made it to my local Target, I was saddened by the fact that there was a line of about 35 people lined up. Why do all these people need to line up? I mean, they already ruined it enough for me when I was trying to get a Wii preorder. I stuffed my cash into my pocket and slowly approached the line. I had a breif conversation with a fellow Nintendo enthusiast, but the conversation was stopped short when all of us in line saw a Target employee step out of the store, and he was apparently giving out something.
I stepped forward a bit and heard another Nintendo enthusiast raise his hands and shout an excited cheer. Seeing that the employee was giving these out to everybody, I just waited to get mine. Once I got it, I saw it was a Wii ticket. I was number 36, and Target actually had 60 units. This was a special ticket that guaranteed me a Wii. It's only valid until noon that same day, so I figured that I could just wait in the car for the remaining three hours, and I did. It was nice to get some more sleep, anticipate the Wii more, and find out how it feels to have the remote in your hand.
Once it opened, they started letting in only 10 people at a time, so I had to wait until it was my turn to walk to the familiar video game section at Target, put my money forward, and get the box. I was so happy about the purchase that I forgot about the fact that I did'nt have any breakfast, so I got something to eat. Afterwards, I had to deal with the long and surprisingly tedious Wii setup process. I think it was all worth it in the end, though I'm still hesitant to move it and bring it to my cousin's house ( which is what I always did for my GCN ) for some reason.
Unfortunetly, I did'nt have enough for a launch title game ( or even for an extra controller ), but I plan to get one during this long Thanksgiving weekend, preferably Excite Truck or The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess ( Although I, admittedly, never really got into the series that much, but, from reading in depth articles in Nintendo Power, I'm confident that this game will actually draw me into the franchise. ) Wii Number: 0363 5200 3924 3627 In other news, I finally found out when the COPIC markers I ordered online will arive in my house ( I really love sketching and to finally color my better sketches in with COPICs seems like a very nice idea. ) It'll come at the 28th. A lot later than I expected, but whatever. Oh, and Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I plan on bringing my Wii to my aunt's house to play some Wii Sports and (maybe) some LoZ: TP. It should be a good time, and I'm looking forward to reading your Thanksgiving entries.
