1st Blog of the year / Waiting on my Dreamcast

In my previous end of the year blog I talked about changing as a gamer. Well I haven't really changed since the beginning of the year (other then gaining a new found respect for the dreamcast) my collection has changed. I've gotten about 13 more games since the beginning of the year and that set me over the bar. I ran out of space! Since the beginning of the year I've gotten an N64. Between controllers for that and accessories, I ran out of drawer space AND shelf space. So with some hardcore reorganizing and new shelves I've been able to make excess room. I took all my GB classic and advanced boxes and put them in a box along with other things I want to keep but don't really use. With the excess of space I've finally been able to give my shelf items (MW2 NVG, MC helmet, Halo figures) the display space they deserve.

Just this week I ordered a new in box Dreamcast along with a VMU, and Jet Grind Radio. I don't quite know where I'm gonna put it because I have excess /game/ storage space but my systems are so close together that I can't open my PS2 door without it hitting my GC. I'll have to do some hardcore reorganizing again but I'll cross that road when I get to it (which should be within the next week). Someone also put the thought in my mind to get an Atari 2600 but their original estimation of its value was way above actual value. On top of that the 2600 is close to the bottom of the list of systems I want to get probably even below a TG-16.

An end and a start.

As the new year approaches so does the end of the decade and I think back on how I've changed as a gamer and I can think of that without thinking of how I've changed as a person. As a gamer I've become more involved. Within the last 3 years I've been playing, buying, and collecting more video games. I have every system from this decade and as this new decade arrives I think on if I'll be able to keep this trend. How will my gaming prefrences change in the next decade? Will I switch my favorite game genre from FPS to third person adventure? And how will I change as a person? Will I start wearing clothes that aren't black? Will I become more active? I don't know what will happen in this new decade and all I can do is look to the future and hope for the best. So with that I hope you all have a happy new year and a great start to the decade.

End of the Decade game stats:

# of Games: 133

Average GS Score: 7.9

Estimated Collection Value: $2758.62

Preferred Platform: PS2(27)

COD: MW2 - The best game I've bought all year.

Yesterday I picked up Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and wow. This game is amazing. When me and my friend got home from picking this up yesturday we popped it in and were amazed at the graphics and realism. We played the first 3 levels of the campaign, the first set of levels in the 2 player "Special ops" mode, and played some 1 v. 1 split screen. This is all before even playing the online multiplayer. It's just astounding.

You know what grinds my gears?

I was informed by a friend that with a PS3 you can put save files on a flash drive. He also informed me that people download other people's save files and put them on their own systems. I don't have a PS3 so I don't know if this is %100 true but if it is it might just be the sh*tiest thing I've ever heard. In my opinion, if you do this your not a gamer. I mean seriously, why did you by the game? So you could play it! Thats like using someone elses continue code on a game, it defeats the whole perhaps of it.

(P.S.- My GameBoy still didn't come)

Quick Update

I picked up "Borderlands" on tuesday and so far so good. A lot of people keep saying its a rip off of "Fallout 3" and I can see the similarities, but its it's own game and should be treated as such, and as its own game its pretty damn good. The comic book style is pulled of well and all the charecters seem interesting. Theres a lot of humor in this game but a lot of it is'nt direct humor. On another note my series(GGML) is running smoothly. My GameBoy Game Genie came yesturday (its in almost new condition and its only fault is no book) and now I'm just waiting for my gameboy and the 11 games that came with it (Master Karateka, The Legend of Zelda: Links Awakening, Super Mario Land, Batman, Radar Mission, Tetris, World Championship Racing, Bart vs The Juggemauts, Krusty's fun House) All this + a case + a few accesories for a winning bid of $21. The shipping cost was unlisted but its coming form canda so I was thinking $3 to $7 but no it was $23. I got Devil World Shipped from japan for less. What a rip. Oh well. I think I would have still payed $40 for it without the shipping.

Coming Soon... Game Genie Master List!(GGML)

As many of my friends know I've been trying to get into making online videos for a while now and it looks like I got a good solid idea now that will most likely be an ongoing series. The basic idea of the series is to create a master list of useful codes for the different Game Genies hens the name Game Genie Master List(GGML). If you're not into retro gaming you probably won't be interested in this or even know what the hell I'm talking about but otherwise you should really go subscribe to me on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/user/PersonNinja). The first episode should be up next month. Even though I already finished the first episode I'm not posting it yet because I want to keep this an ongoing series so I need to get a few more games with good codes. Expect the first season to be all Nintendo(GameBoy, NES, and SNES). Maybe in the second season I'll get some SE-GA! systems(Master System, Genesis, and Game Gear) but it might wait until the third season though. So keep your eyes open and subscribe. I'll try to keep you all updated on my video ventures.
