Just as i though 90% of the people that say that Vista sucks say that because they heard that from XYZ, they don't know $@!T about computers or have obsolete computers, only 10% that say it sucks give smart/logical reasons for it, but even those most concerning the power of the system. Absolutely right. I'm one of the only ones in my (university) class that uses Vista for gaming and work related purposes (this may include programming, design, rendering). Most of the people around me keep saying things like: "ohhh Vista.. looks good but it will crash anyway" or "omg, Vista sux so bad". Whenever we ask them 'why?' they say something like .. ohh ehh yea it sux. 'Did you use it?'. Nah I didn't, cos it sux. A few did try it though, on their old pentium4 2ghz with 1gb ram and claimed it was bad and laggy. Excuse me but that's like driving a Ferrari in the middle of London and saying it's slow. It originally were the software designers that claimed Vista was bad since it didn't support their old software, the media picked that up, and there you go. There's never an XP user that says something like .. wow, Vista boots twice as fast thanks to its superfetch and support for Intel Turbo Memory (got 2 gig of it, and I can tell you, its fast) or the fact that the Windows Search is instant anddd also looks for sensitive text inside of files. shadowcopy to avoid loss of files, etc... I'd Vista is a great operating system for the normal PC user
Damn this looks bad. ATi is trying to make a somewhat desperate move to beat Nvidia before they start their release on the new Geforce 9 series in the next quarter (as reported). I'm quoting some guy called ramarc who said the following (which I agree with): the g92 is almost ready for primetime but nvidia has no reason to rush it since ati/amd has no product to compete with the full 8800 lineup. Nvidia will probably milk the 8800 line for the rest of the year, and use the extra time to make sure their g92 drivers are top-notch.
Bought myself a cheap Asus P4P800 model instead of the Sony thing which would rather blow-up then allowing overclocking.. Now the great thing about this mobo is that it has this 'jumperfree configuration' which allows people who don't really know what they are doing to just select: "Overclock 5-30%" and hit OK I got one the first HT models (dual core) exported by Intel, a Northwood 2.4 ghz. It's running rather good at 3 ghz, heat has never been a problem. I would try to go higher but it actually requires higher voltages (1.7V >) and perhaps some of you know but there is this MYTH around the Northwoods, I thought it was called the Instant Death Syndrome... which caused a northwood to become unstable and after a short time.. unusable. Anyone know more about this ?
