I know you've probably seen a bajillion posts like this.. so apologies in advance.

I have a Dell Dimension E520 running Vista (Shoot me) All standard parts.

Intel Dual Core 2.8GHz Processor

2GB DDR2 RAM

NVIDIA GeForce 7300LE Video Card

305 Watt power supply

For Expansion:

PCI: 2 SlotsPCIe x1: 1 SlotPCIe x16 (Graphics): 1 Slots

I'd really like to upgrade it to play Starcraft 2 well. I have run the beta on it, and it can* run in lowest settings, but lag occurs frequently. I don't care about running SC2 on highest details, just on med-high with a solid frame rate. Should I just get a new power supply and upgrade my video card? Or is it going to be better in the long run to just sell this and build a new rig? (If you think I should just build one, feel free to reply/message me about ideas) Money is the main issue here, I'd rather spend under $175 on it. My friend offered me his oldXFX GeForce 9800 GTX Black Edition, but there might be problems with it. Any input would be helpful, thanks :)

I completely disagree. The PC is a wonderful gaming platform, it's just more complicated than most other consoles. And a well built PC can last much longer than a lot of consoles. (RROD anyone?) And the PC *does* have more sophisticated games, compare Halo Wars to Sins of a Solar Empire, or try to imagine playing World of Warcraft on a Wii.

Banjo-Tooie has one big problem, which is that the aiming is oversensitive, but think about this: The levels are unique, the graphics and music are pleasant, the campaign is long, and oh! Get this: It's fun. How many other shooter games will give you that?NBSRDan

About 5 off the top of my head. If you think Half Life 2 isn't unique, has horrible graphics and music, is short and isn't fun, you should turn in your gamer card. :|

I can't believe it's been 10 years, I feel old now. CS is a great testament to Valve, PC gamers, and the modding community. A whole decade, and there's still thousands of players and hundreds of custom servers. And no, we don't have to pay 10$ for a new map pack, I wish modern devs weren't so greedy all the time. Tonight I'll have to play a few rounds, I miss pwning some nubs with my deagle.

Hail CS

Anyone else think that the PC vs Consoles debate is like PC vs Mac? No pc gamer is going to deny that you can run into problems with installing or playing a pc game. It usually does take more skill, and sometimes have to download an update or patch manually. But in the end, it totally pays off, because even though a mac/console does it's job, it's a closed system, with very limited options. You can't start PC gaming expecting it to be a perfectly smooth experience, but it really isn't that hard to get 90%+ of PC games up and running.

OMG teh ownage iz SUPA!!!

Dude srlsy, how does ONE incredibly bad rts somehow pwn hermits? That game wasn't even hyped, I didn't expect it to get over a 6.5 at most. There's tons of great rts on PC, you need to stop failing.

> joke thread or TC is incredibly retarded.

HistoricalSD

its what I like to call TrollJokers - when a troll creates a thread for the amusement of trolling(when other users see right threw it knowing that the whole OP and topic is a complete Joke) Claiming ownage and commenting on things that make no sense what so ever. Users end up dishing out the faceplams because the Trolljoker failed horridly in trying to prove a point

i am not a trolljoker. RTS on PC, 1.5/10. DEAL WITH IT

Dear god... he actually means it. Stop feeding him people, he's just a troll

facepalm*

I think its a necessary evil, until the social problems which cause (indirectly of course) unwanted pregnancies and are responsible for the immaturity both on sexual and emotional level of many adults, have been dealt with at some degree.

Examples: A lacking educational system bound by social taboos, insecure about their children's sexuality parents etc etc

Teenaged

Saying something is "a necessary evil" is a VERY bad road to take. You could say torturing American citizens that are suspected terrorists is a "necessary evil" for the greater good. If you think that way, you can basically rationalize anything. The end is not justified by the means. Stalin and Hitler used this very idea to rationalize the murder of millions of people, because they believed that in the end, their country would be a better place without certain people in it.

It comes down to what games you want to play, I'd personally go with PC because it has it has alot more gaming options like rts and mmorpgs. But don't buy either one because someone told you to, buy one based on what your going to do with it.
