The fact of the matter is that players aren't proffesional reviewers. People who do reviews on this site don't get paid to play the game and then write a review about it. They spend their own money and then their own time writing a review on this site. So you should not only respect their opinion, you should take each review with a grain of salt, professional or not.

Good point. But it just seems odd that I can play Oblivion, or even Rainbow Six for hours on end and not get utterly sick of the game. I'm not saying Gears is a bad game, but I don't believe it lived up to it's hype.

As far as twists go...KOTOR had the greatest twist ever. I mean it was like a Fight Club twist. But as for the greatest ending ever...I'd vot MGS

You're right, they will ask the same question about Halo 3. But I find that the combatis too repetitive, and not enough of a challenge. And, until the recent addition of annex, I found multiplayer lacking.

My personal favorite:Oblivion- I killed the lady that runs Divine Elegance (because she refers to herself in the thrid person) and the game glitched, running her head through the counter, at which point she began shaking like a jackhammer until I left and came back.

Second Favorite: Saint's Row- Shot down a helicopter, which hit an FBI car, which flung the FBI agents thru the windshield and into a cop car, which caused the cop car to veer off and wreck into a SWAT roadblock, which caused a chain explosion. The fire ball was huge.

Does anyone feel, that after two years of hype and excitment, that Gears was a let down?

If playing a game makes you uncomfortable or unhappy, you shouldn't be playing it in the first place. Video games are about fun, not political statements, not psychological tests or emotional trials. In a war game, a video game takes out the horros of war and leaves the intense, teeth-grinding, pulse-pounding, adrenaline-fueled experience that is combat. So no, I don't base game purchases on morals. I don't agree with witchcraft, but I play as a wizard in Oblivion. I don't neccesarily agree with war, but Rainbow Six is one of my favorite games. So base game purchase on fun factor, not belief systems.

It seems that some people have no patience. If you must have an awesome game for the summer, go get The Darkness when it comes out. Starbreeze studios has an awesome rep in my book, and the game-play trailers look awesome. But if you wait until September, you can buy Mass Effect, which looks to be a completely mind-blowing game.
