Yeah, gaming... I freakin' love GAMING. Being a gamer, several stereotypes apply to me, some of which include, though not, in any way, are limited to: Having no social life, being a loser, never getting a girlfriend, or perhaps just being retarded in general. Let me say "I don't care." Honestly, my adept nature in gaming is the equivalent to picking one's nose. Anyone can do it, but only some are good enough to eat the boogers, or in this case, reap the benefits of knowledge acquisition via gaming. I honestly don't believe I would be as intelligent as I am at this stage in life as I am had gaming neglected to appeal to me as an infantile individual. I've been gaming for as long as I can remember. MegaManX was my first hardcore gaming period. Got it on Easter one year and practically raped it everyday for the next several months. Eventually, I was good enough to beat it in a matter of less than an hour or so. Talented? God, was I. I feel blessed to have a knack for gaming, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Gaming... What type of games am I into? Anything from FPS'es to Fighting games... First-Person Shooters, not so much, but some have my support. I like RPG's and Fighting Genres best. I like Super Smash Bros. Melee. It's a solid, fast-paced, challenging, popular, fighter. Potentially the best fighter in the world right now. Better than Guilty Gear, Street Fighter, and Mortal Kombat. A fantastic platforming action RPG is the Castlevania series in general. Portrait of Ruin? Amazing. I've not been so impressed since the release of SSB.
Why do I continue to game? It's an easy way to escape fromoccurrences that would potentially stress the typical individual out. I'm all but typical... It lets me get into the world of the character in whose head I dwell. It lets me do things I can't do in real life. It lets me socialize and compare my skills to those of my friends'. In some games, particularly co-op games, it helps me get along with people I don't normally get along with on the best of terms. The drawbacks are few and far between to say the least... I can game outdoors and I do so at the park from time to time. That's no drawback. Physical activity is achieved via ITG & DDR. The latter provides more calorie burning than most anything the typical individual will do, including running and playing pretty much any sport. I'm never bored as long as I have a Wii or a DS around me. Or even a PS2 or XBOX. Yes I play Halo from time to time, regardless of my inability to prosper in my experiences. Dang FPS'es... I have a social life. My social life consists of more intelligent conversations than the average non-gamer. That means my social life is, in fact, BETTER than that of someone whom isn't a gamer. Girlfriend? Have one! Best one ever, for that matter. That's no excuse to not be a gamer. I'm a loser who will dwell in the basement of my mother's home until I'm 40 or older? Doubt it. I'm going to succeed in life moreso than anyone that isn't a gamer to my knowledge. I know how to have a good time. I'm EXTREMELY outgoing and I do a lot of things no one else will. I'm not shy, I don't have a pocket protector, and I don't wear plaid shirts with short shorts and suspenders. That's not what a gamer is. I am what a gamer is.
I want to know, now, how many of you consider the stereotypes regarding gamers to be true? I'm not the only gamer to whom they don't apply. They rarely apply to any gamer, to be perfectly honest. I don't know ONE gamer that will end up being a loser who's 40, single, and living in his mother's basement, who didn't go to college, etc. NOT A SINGLE ONE. So, I humbly request the stereotypes to shove their ignorant remarks up their nose, okay? Thanks, and no more rude remarks to me, or any of my fellow gamers. Thank you.
