Budapest GameShow 2009

The Budapest GameShow is Hungary's buggest entertainment-electronic fair. This year nearly thirteen-thousand people visited the Papp László Sports Arena on the 31th of October to see the Windows 7 hungarian premiere, to check out the latest and upcoming games or to take part in the Windows 7 games for prizes.

We got prewievs about Assassin's Creed 2, Dragon Age, Star Wars Unleashed, Halo3 ODST, CoD: Modern Warfare 2 and much more. People could also watch a presentation about viruses, spams and the NOD32 Internet Security program.

One lucky gamer won a trip to China to the World Cyber Games 2009 where he will participate in the FIFA09 championship. And one lucky gamer-girl won the World Cyber Girls 2009 competition who proved that she's familiar with information technology, video games and of course that she has a natural beauty.

Students who attend college could recieve their own free Windows 7 x68 operation system.

The presentations, games and prizes, competitions, as well as the LAN-partys and board games made the Budapest Game Show a huge success and it will be organizeg next year on the same day, same place.

Budapest Game Show 09

The Budapest Game Show is the biggest video game event in Hungary and it will be held tomorrow (31th October) in the Papp László Sports Arena in Budapest. This year the will introduce many new and upcoming video games such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Halo3 ODST, GTA4: Ballad of Gay Tony, Assassin's Creed 2 including Microsoft's new operation system, the Windows 7!

My Wii impressions

My first game console was an Atari 2600 when I was about 5-6 years old, and I haven't played any console games since then (except for some PS games but those were running with an emulator on my PC). But this summer my friend got a Wii and since it's better when you're not playing it alone, I joined him and played lots of games through the summer.

For example we played MK: Armageddon, Wii Sports, Mario Party 8, Rayman Raving Rabbids - these were the best.

Unfortunately the Wii isn't very common in Hungary. But we liked it anyway. As I played I realized that the most common Wii games aren't there to astonish you with their graphics, these are simple games for you and your family (or friends) to have fun. And of course to keep you in condition if we think of sport games on the console. The Wiimote and Nunchuk are fun to use in games made typically for the Wii but are hard to use in other games which were originally developed for PC, PS or XBox 360. For example it wasn't very easy to do the special moves in Mortal Kombat and although I didn't try it, it could be hard to control an FPS game like Call of Duty: World at War.

So Wii is a cool console to hang out and play with friends but if I need some real action I'd rather use my PC.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

I still can't believe that there are nearly 2 weeks left for the release of CoD: Modern Warfare 2, one of the most anticipated games of 2009. The first Modern Warfare game was a huge success, and as I watch the news, images and videos about it, I know this will be twice the fun. My opinion about why these two games are so good (or why is Modern Warfare good and the second will be) is that it's different from the other Call of Duty games. I think we have enough second world war games, there aren't many thing that the game creators didn't make a game of about the world war. I like FPS games and mostly the historical ones so I played Medal of Honor, CoD of course, so I like to look at Modern Warfare as a little break.

As soon as the game arrived and I played it I will write a review about it.

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising

I tried the new OF game because I heard lots of good thing about it. So here are my thoughts.

Well it's not quite what I expected (but I didn't play the first OF game), I didn't knew that it's a tactical FPS, only after I checked it on Gamespot. I'm a big fan of the Call of Duty series so I was used to the simple controls, just going, shooting, throwing grenades and 'using' stuff. So it was difficult for me to control my team, to give them orders, and it is complicated.

However I like the large battlefields and vehicles. The graphics are nice, the menu is good as well and I like it's chinese-like music.

So it's a good game but you have to get used to it. I'd rather stick to the CoD series.

My score: 8/10

Sims 3

As a huge fan of the Sims series I was really excited about this game, and after playing about 3-4 hours with it I think I can write a few words about what I've seen so far.

Music:
The previous Sims games always had good music, and so does the new one, there's no problem with it. I could even recognize the Sims 2 theme hidden in it's music.

Graphics:
I didn't noticed big changes in the graphics (compared to The Sims 2 of course), OK it is better but still enough, The Sims never needed big graphical effects, bloom and all that stuff. And still it is a good game without them. Actually the system requirements are a bit high for my PC, it seems my processor isn't good enough with it's 2.0 GHz Dual Core performance. Especially when I'm zooming out to see the rest of the town.

Game-play:
It's just awesome that you can fully customize your Sims at the CAS (create a sim) screen, like the shape of the nose, lips, even the material of the clothes.
And finally about the controls. The basic control hasn't changed, you can simply use your mouse to do almost everything without the help of your keyboard. However, I think the controlling of the Sims is a bit complicated. For example I can choose what should my Sims do while he is in school (chat with friends, learn harder, etc.). Ok, it's not a bad idea, but I think it was better in the former Sims games when I didn't have to control the game so deeply.

But overall I think I got what I expected.

My score: 7/10

Chrono Cross

I started playing Chrono Cross again. It's probably the best Role-Playing Game for the PS ever! And why is it so good?
Well it's a PS 1 game so don't compare it with the graphics of a PS 2 or PS 3 game but it's still good. But I like the cut scenes very much, now those have excellent graphics.
The story is amazing, although it is a very long game, it has a very good story. I love the music of the game which was composed by Yasunori Mitsuda. I try to learn to play all of them on my guitar. The music is so good that it can even make you cry when you are at a touching situation. The characters are very well designed, there are loads of playable characters in the game and all of them are very good (even the bad guys), if we take a look at our hero, Serge or the cat-headed Lynx or the foxy teen girl, Kid. There are some funny characters too but the game is like a fairy-tale so there's nothing wrong with them.
There's nothing else to say, this game is perfect ;)

My score: 10/10
