In these last two years I had been thinking a lot about the my future and about what path choose. I know that all the persons have dreams and goals but the real fact is: "do we follow them??"Are we ready to suffer, to survive, to fight, to follow and to achive our dreams without affecting other persons??

After that long meditation and complains I decided that I will follow my dreams again, I am back into the game design and animation, I am back into cinematics, I am back into animation and FX and I would be back into short films again and more. The path is going to be hard and painful but we only have one life and we need to try achieving all that we dreamed during that time.

Seems that NCSoft likes to use their lawyers and they want to bury Tabula Rasa, they don't want to sell it but they want to bury it, a lot of persons bought that game and when they closed it in a dark February was very sad.

After some time a group of developers and programmers were able of launch a private server with a lot of bugs and issues but was a start and a hope for the players that bought the game and that HAD a license to use.

Some weeks ago a group of lawyers from NCSoft sued them for using the game that they closed, ironic seems that they don't want to sell it but they sued all the persons that are trying to bring it back.

Lets see what could happen in the next weeks

Update 2013:

Officially the project closed

Tabula Rasa closed in February of 2009 after some issues between the designer (Richard Garriot) and NCsoft, there are some theories that could explain the reasons of NCsoft to shut down the servers (even there were a theory that the game could be relaunch, maybe was a theory of a fan that had a devoted heart for TR) but I don't want to enter in details or answer the same old questions. Some persons tried to buy the game from NCsoft even I tried contacting NCsoft in 2009 and their answer "Tabula Rasa is not for sale" so all the hopes ended in 2009 and all the persons decided to put it in the forgotten vault of the video game industry and buried it. Is more you could find some eBay's bids of the old CDs of this game that was released in 2007.

The year is now 2011, some years passed after this game disappeared, some fan tears were dropped, some forums were closed the only memory that we have is the youtube video called "the last minutes of Tabula Rasa" were we could appreciate the last event and that none won this war. And now the reader must be thinking "huh? Why is this crazy person writing about TR?" the answer is simple. Some persons after several time working were able of launching a test server (isn't in alpha version yet) that gives a lot of hope to the fans and maybe a possible curious player of playing or at least seeing what was Tabula Rasa.

About the server, it is in test, it is open, it has bugs, it needs help, it needs work, we can't call this even an alpha version but you could enter and walk around the Foreas Base, make some shoots.

This year E3 wasn't what I expected. There are cool games and new "advances" in hardware? but could be better.

Microsoft:

Wasn't a good conference, they showed the same or something that we already knew "voice recognition in games", sometimes is better letting things like they are is useless adding this characteristic if the "model" is going to recognize the voice and then says the line that you said in the voice of an actor so is a waste of resources and compute time, could be better if the model move the lips according to your voice or something like that but maybe I'm a bit crazy right now. About the kinect based games .... most of them or ... ALL them. From a technical point of view the Kinect is awesome doing recognition of a character is hard and I know from my experience (they must have an awesome classifier, I hadn't used a Kinect but I want to program something there) but can't be used FOR ALL games, I saw FPS there are some awesome custom weapons details but there is something unrealistic when you move or load a weapon because you do it to air or because the movements aren't "real ones" call me a liar, mad, stupid ...... in some games is better having a controller than imagine that there is one controller, why?. Maybe for adding more realistic to the simulation.

Sony:

Well the conference wasn't that amazing as other years and they showed games that we were already expecting. PSVITA gave me a first good impression in graphics and there are new games coming there so only time will show us what expect:

EA and Ubisoft, not too much to say new Madden 12, FIFA 12... but wait the next year we will see Fifa 13, Madden 13 and they will continue saying what I heard all the years "this game is far different than before and the IA and .. and .. and you know will be better than before". Assassins Creed we were expecting it so not big deal but there are pretty coll games that I want to be testing soon.

Nintendo:Was ... a normal conference new games for 3DS (I need to see how it works), and the most interesting Wii U.Wii U has good and bad things. They added HD interface but not because they wanted because was needed. The controller is a bit big there are a lot of concerns "weight, ergonomic?, expensive? is it a weak controller? all things that had a screen are very weak so if it falls will be cracked or broken??" They didn't added a blue format disc so ...... how you could use the full HD if there isn't a way of use it different than the "private Nintendo hardware" is a waste of good hardware limited by a disc created by them. I read in forums "yah could have 30 - 50GB" but there is a big "?" mark because isn't the same.

Today we had the opportunity to see the new advances from Microsoft and some interesting news and I don't know but I should be watching the Worldcup game than this conference.

Lets make a summary of the conference ...... I'm very disappointed was waiting for more and didn't see it, maybe that was the reason to give a slim Xbox360 to all the audience for free. Maybe as always we were waiting for new games and new adventures but we received Kinect that in my perspective isn't that impressive or they need to develop more useful programs to it.

Lets start with the painful part the conference part by part.

Call of Duty: Black Ops trailer, the game looked smooth, this time was in Vietnam war or I believed that, there were some nice options including the use of an helicopter but not idea if that game would be that great.

Metal Gear Rising: I'd like to cut and cut but hey there must be anything else to do than cutting all, I'm a fan of Meta Gear the idea is being an agent not a ninja, samurai, swordsman or whatever but in any case the graphics looked nice, we need to wait how is going to be the final delivered and the final story line.

Gears of War 3: Showed a multiplayer that could be better, they added some options but sometimes isn't what we want for me is the same kind of game that isn't giving us nothing new, the same with new features.

Fable III: I don't know what to think about that, I'd skip any comments about it.

New partnership was shown with Crytek but and a name was showed Codename: Kingdoms.

Halo Reach: The story continues as always, the graphics were smooth but sometimes I'd be sad because the plot stays as the same, even I could think that is a remade of something we already saw, isn't enough. I'm sure that will be a great game but the part that they showed wasn't enough to guess how is going to be the final product.

After that games now I'll enter to the hard part called Kinect, first they spent almost all the time of their conference talking about this ..... thing. Are you sure that all this time since the last E3 were you only working on that?? You must be kidding me.

Kinect at the beginning gave me a nice impression that could be summarize in: Voice recognition, motion recognition, person recognition but that wasn't the same that we already knew??. They showed the characteristics and uses that the system would give to all us, one was the no more controller part but wait was obvious. The use in Zune was showed but sometimes only saying "play" "stop" "rewind hahaha" isn't going to fill my expectative. The mix of VideoKinect wasn't impressive, that we can see each other person in a chat and sharing videos already existed they are only mixing the Windows Live with the Xbox 360, simple. The part that was interesting was the camera that follows the person while chatting but there are some questions, if there were two persons which one is going to follow??, also we need to see that they must had a nice and smooth bandwidth.

The partnership of ESPN and XBox was great, the persons of SportsCenter helped a bit explaining it, but now the real part, is free for the members but I'm sure that option will be only available in USA since there are some international rights with some cable operators that are not going to like the idea so this is going to happen will be work in some zones and in others no, I remark others and they didn't said that detail but at the end the HD quality was expected so please forgive me if I said "I'm not impressed".

Kinectanimals: My advice to all, buy a pet to your children, as engineer the responsibility, and the care that really is needed can't be given by a program or software, I find it good for playing a few times but is a waste of resources, time and more. That isn't needed, only showed the possible options of Kinect for a future.

Kinect Sports: A remade of Wii Sports, so there is nothing else to say, with that is enough?

Your shape fitness from Ubisoft: Is a program that would help you to have a good shape and more but for some reason I'd say that this time Microsoft was seeking other kind of audiences and not the usual of the past years.

Dance Central: I found it nice, also is nice for a person that wants to learn dancing but I don't want to have a small hope with this one.

Finally Kniect would be released this year the 4th of November.

After all that there was a trailer of Starwars for Kinect, something I noticed was that there were a delay in the speed of the sable laser maybe was the video or maybe is the game, who knows.

Turn 10 a game of Forza, used Kinect to capture and change the ways of racing, the graphics were smooth and fast, also the details.

At the end they showed a redesign of the Xbox 360 with a new HDD of 250GB and Wi-Fi 802.11N that is the last release in Wi-Fi technology, will be shipped today, the design looked cool but more like a PS3.

Lets see what would Sony brings to us or maybe why not Nintendo but I was expecting more from Microsoft and we didn't see it not all is Kinect.

What a sad day in the E3. A lot of blabla and they can receive the hit from Microsoft.

There is not too much to say first Super Mario Bros VII something like that, please Nintendo UPDATE your games.

The Wii Motion Plus ........ I heard it before am I wrong??, if we compare this with Project Natal there is nothing much to say you need to hire more Engineers to improve that control, yes there are new possibilities but against Natal you need to do a better effort

Enix - Square, with another FF for Nintendo. Kingdom hearts again and again bring a new kind of game Nintendo. I know that games are interesting but we want to see anything new and the next RPG is new Mario and Luigi hehe for the DS and others that, like Golden Sun that is promising. The other games of DS is simple there is no need to comment about them but I liked this comment for the live blog "Players can also shop in each other's boutiques. An ironic "Whoo!" from one audience member draws a few laughs." and after all this "crap" more games for the DS and more crap.

The Mario game that they showed was very interesting but interesting isn't enough. Resident Evil, looks great, only a small teaser but we need more, after all this Dead Space saved some of this conference so I gave this game the :) prize.

Metroid other M, was cool and I gave that game the 8) prize.

But at the end this was a crap, so all the conference received the :evil: prize.

Today we saw a nice beginning in the E3, Microsoft (MS) sent the first blow, ¿can any other console match or return that "hit"?

I wasn't expecting that from MS, in the past E3 we saw a lot of crap but this year all was different and I need to add "good work folks". All the years MS didn't filled my expectations but this year was different.

The first game to appear was Guitar Hero and with some interesting guests according to the game, Guitar Hero Beatles sounds great, as Ringo and Paul McCartney said, so far I wasn't amazed another Guitar Hero with different songs and great graphics. After a few minutes Tony Hawk appeared with his sensor board, I heard about that board a few days ago so well not big deal, more stuff that needs to be bought, I thought but wasn't that bad but ... why are we going to buy that board in the future??, I'll answer that question later.

Modern Warfare 2 was next, some interesting graphics but was another game that we heard about so "was there any impact?" maybe but not yet.

FFXIII one of the games that we saw a lot of times in the Sony side, the graphics and the story as the usual for any FF game, the people of Enix - Square did a big effort so they receive the :) prize.

Shadow Complex, very promising from my way of view but I need to see more about it, could be a Metroid. After it, we saw a teaser of Crackdown 2 but ok, I wasn't expecting that but maybe more information about it is need it. After it I saw and with the respect of all some blood around my keyboard and some heads in the floor, the E3 was covered by blood and the guilty was Left 4 Dead 2, honestly I didn't liked this one maybe some will disagree but please what was this?, this game earn the:question: prize.

After all that blood and a few shoots and more blood and a few other weapons and cuts, we saw a nice game Splinter Cell Conviction. The graphics and the story were very interesting and I want to say "awesome", we saw the other face of the protagonist, can he become crazy?? will he find the killer of ...?, the combat scenes that we saw so far were great as the next game that appeared Forza 3, for the racer lovers this game will bring hours of fun and diversion, also the roster of the cars are very impressive 400 cars and we can't hide the performance of the game in general, for the persons that own a 360 Splinter Cell and Forza will bring hours of fun, so far I was giving MS a B, and the Halo appeared, Halo ODST, has a different story from my way of view, also then they said "suppressed weapons" for the fans of Halo, well I played Halo the first one and do you think that I'm surprised about it, give Halo a break but when I was thinking that the announced a new Halo so I thought "another Halo ............" and saved by the next game Alan Wake, promising very promising and the story sent some ideas into my head, I would like that game so I give this game the 8) prize.

After all that games, was time for the XBOX LIVE and I heard a whisper: "The end of the conference", the bring new ideas as the Sky one that I hope to see it in the future, they named a partnership with Facebook and Twitter but well use a PC for that, I'm not a great follower of that so there is no more to talk about it.

And I was ready to touch the bell when a weird sound appeared, yes and Kojima said "MG for 360" but the main character Raiden, when they asked him about Solid Snake he said "there is no going to be Solid Snake in this game" then some persons in the forums and in the blogs of different places laughed, I'm a big fan of MG, I was very disappointed that Kojima appeared saying that so I'll give this new game the :!: prize and yes I have hope that Kojima announce something for PS3 or PSP, maybe one game related with Big Boss because there were a few faces in his teaser and only one was showed today.

After that I saw the Project Natal and that was the final hit for the other consoles so before I talk a bit about it I need to say, is this useful?

The project Natal eliminated this part and in my way of view the Wii loses one of the attractiveness. In summary this project eliminates the controller and all the movements are done by the body, and also the voice. They main idea of the project is awesome, and the recognition of the voice, shape, person, colors will bring a new era to the videogames, so you can send me your Wii parts because with this system you won't need them. So now I ask, why are we going to get the Tony Hawk's board with this??? there is no need of it. The step that MS did today was huge and I'll give the project Natal the :idea: prize.

Now is Nintendo ready for the conference??? Sony has one more day to "fix" the conference but my expectations of Nintendo are 10%, maybe a chair that could be recognized by the Wii but with the Natal project useless.

Don LaFontaine is a name that maybe appears in your head and then vanish but his voice I'm sure that you listened at least once on his more that 5000 movie trailers and 350000+ commercials, programs, and more.

He died in September 1 but his voice will be on our mind and in all the movie trailers that still around the world and in all the DVDs that you have in your house well not in all but in most of them (no Disney Mark Elliot is the one that makes the Disney's voice). Rest in Peace Don LaFontaine your voice will be remembered. I'll upload some videos about Don and some that I found in the Internet in honor of this great voice actor.
