A life-changing event happened yesterday. A motivational speaker came to our school. She told us that she graduated from our school in 1983. She talked about always having hope and never giving up despite our circumstances. Then some of the students got up on stage and began to talk about why they felt like giving up. One boy named Brenton said that his mother is sick and that he felt like dropping out of school to take care of her. He even began quoting Bible scriptures. When he began to cry, students came up to encourage and comfort him. Another student named Jerrica talked about how she lost her parents and she felt like she was all alone then she began crying too. Another girl (forgot her name) said that she was molested by a family member and that she has a heart condition. They said she wasn't gonna live but here she is now 18. Isn't that a blessing or what? Man I got so emotional that I began to cry. I guess people aren't always who you think they are. I'm beginning to see my high school in a different light. The speaker inspired me to never give up no matter what and just hang in there. She was just a godsend to me.
