While it is not a union, I have started the Next-Gen Alliance organization in all of the next-gen system and System Wars boards and I am trying to make people see the fact that when all consoles win, WE all win.  The point of it is to show that no matter what console you are routing for, you should hope that they are all  neck-and-neck.  You want to know why?  Competition.  Competition spurs price drops, better games, and an overall greater amount of effort on Microsoft's, Nintendo's, and Sony's part to get us into their "camp".  I hope this can show people how ignorant it is to say that you want one console to "fail".  It simply does not make sense for the video game world, and that's what we care about, right?

Well, I finally upgraded my cell phone from a 1995 model to the brand-spanking new Sprint Sanyo Katana.  It's supposed to compete with the SLVR and RAZR.  I actually like the Katana better.  First, the name is spelled correctly, and second, the service is better on Sprint I find.  So, I really have nothing else to say.  I'm bored.

Well, I'm off on a 10 day cruise (July 7-17th) to visit Key West, Miami, Port Canaveral, Cozumel, and Costa Maya, so I won't be on.  I won a prize at the local dance, worth $150 to Game Stop, so I bought some games for the PSP and DS.  Afterall, I still need some games!  In reality I probably won't play any, but hey, can't hurt.  See you all when I get back.

The graphics are sweet and the new trucks are awsome looking.  It looks to be a major step up from the original, which was one of my favorites of all time.  This game probably will make me swallow what I said last blog and buy a PS3.  But then again, price drops do occur rapidly.... maybe I can wait a year or two.  Maybe.  If only it were on the Xbox 360 as well.  :(

$600! What the f*** is this about?!  $600! (I know that this is old news, but I finally got off my lazy bum to ramble about it)  This price is simply atrocious!  Maybe 500, but 600!  That's insane!  I realize that a stand alone Blu Ray device will be about $1000, but still, a video game machine for $600?  Ridiculous!  I don't care how much power it has under the hood, it still is too expensive.  And, to really anger the Sony fanboys (and girls), the Xbox 360 is not a kiddie machine!  The graphics between the two seem to be reasonable, similar to the PS2 and old Xbox.  I seriously don't see myself shelling out the dough for a PS3, and I am a Sony fanboy!  Now will I buy one when the price drops?  Hell yeah!  I need my Ratchet and Clank, SOCOM, and Mercenaries 2, but that dosn't mean that I have to shell out the $600, and I won't!  Now that Xbox 360 is looking mighty fine....

I have never been much of a Metal Gear Solid fan.  The wonky controls, odd cameras, convulted story lines... were too much bad to get to the cool characters, gadgets, and weapons.  However, Subsistence came out but a short while ago.  I heard about the free-control camera and ran out to buy it. (For $30, what a friggin steal!) Wow this game is good.  I can't put it down!  The story is clear and leaves you guessing, the camo feature is awsome, and all of the CQC and gun play we all know and love is in abundant supply.  The two best things however are the awsome multiplayer (though it has a steep learning curve) and free-look camera.  Now I can actually see the beautiful graphics!  Please, Mr. Kojima, make MGS4 as good as MGS3: Subsistence!

Keep buying the small games!  I'm serious, I am tired of everyone looking at the huge games such as God of War, GTA, MGS, RE4, and others, and overlooking some truly great smaller niche titles.  Games such as I-Ninja, Harvest Moon, and Metal Gear Solid: Subsitence need your help.  Wait a second, scratch that last one off the list, but the other two are great games that deserve your attention, pronto.  Now go buy them for under $20 today, you cheap bastards.

I have been playing this damn game for too long!  The new thing to catch my eye is the ball-busting pro mode.  Damn that is hard.  This definitly should have won all awards at the players choice awards, but I forgot to vote, so I shouldn't be a critic.  Will I ever be able to stop playing this game?

What is with the all out, balls to the wall rush to buy the next gen console put out by your favorite company?  Now I'm not saying Halo 3 or SOCOM 4 are going to suck, but come on people, there are tons of great games on current gen systems to keep us all happy.  With the recent additions of GTA: San Andreas, God of War, Resident Evil 4, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, SOCOM 3, and even Mercenaries, the lineup of "Next-Gen" games look weak.  Don't ditch your favorite console in the dirt (or into ebgames) just to get a "new" console.
