@cmyork Old systems always out sell newly launch consoles. It doesn't matter if it is nintendo or not. For example, here are sales numbers from 2005(xbox 360 launch).
NPD Sales for December 2005

1. PlayStation2: approx. 1.5 million units
2. GBA/GBM: approx. 1.2million units
3. PSP: approx. 1.12 million units
4. Nintendo DS: approx. 1.07 million units.
5. Gamecube: 606,000 units
6. Xbox: approx. 415,000 units
7. Xbox 360: 281,441 units.
