Drum Songs Worthy of your Cold, Hard Cash
by Platinum_Pikmin on Comments
Let's face it, the most hogged peripheral in your house when playing Rock band or Guitar Hero 4 is the drums. While playing the guitar is cool, it's very far off from the original instrument. Drums, however, are pretty close to its source material. That is why I have created a drum tab, to help all drummers chose the songs that give the hardest beats. Just comment with the song name, and band with a brief description of why it's worthy of your hard earned cash.
The Perfect Drug by Nine Inch Nails: One of the more bizarre songs out there, this song has you doing all kinds of off-beat rhythms and sometimes makes you do sound effects instead of drum beats.
Good Morning (Black Friday) by Megadeth: Probably the hardest song in the entire game, with all the things you expect to see, like incredibly fast foot pedal notes, crazy fast red pad fills and combinations of the two.
Siva by The Smashing Pumpkins: The main chorus is a little hard to master at first, and there are two boring slow parts thrown in the song as well. But the song makes up for it with the amazing drum fills that you can dare to undertake.
These are just a few of the songs that I think are very good for drums, feel free to comment on the songs that make your top 10. This is Platinum Pikmin closing another blog post

The Wii got blasted in this years awards
by Platinum_Pikmin on Comments
Being a one console man myself, I know that sometimes the Wii can have more than it's share of utterly terrible games. I also believe, however, that this year was a very good year for some of the best quality games on the system. This was never more apparent than in the Game of the Year awards where Gamespot had No More Heroes as a nominee, a game that they rated 9.0, and yet failed to include Super Smash Bros. Brawl in this years nominations, a game that scored a 9.5 according to Gamespot.
I'm not saying that Super Smash Bros. Brawl could have taken on Guns of the Patriots for Game of the Year, but it still would have been nice to include it in the ballots, considering it beat out most of the other nominees according to pure score.
One Step Forward, Two Steps Back
by Platinum_Pikmin on Comments
I'm sure that I am not the only one who has noticed that Nintendo has been producing first party games like it's a bodily function in a desperate attempt to keep the Wii afloat, probably because it's getting no backup from any third party developers but a flood of terrible Wii ports.
So at the new conference Nintendo announced that they would be creating Wii HD, a high definition alternative with better graphics. But there was a catch, the release date is somewhere in 2011. I know for a fact that the Wii is going to have a terrible time keeping afloat until then. But to combat these assumptions they announced some games that everyone had been begging for since the Wii's release: Sin and Punishment 2 (title pending), Puchout 3 (title pending) and an actual Final Fantasy game with no weird side character chickens exploring dungeons.
But as explained before, Nintendo couldn't leave well enough alone and crossed the line with a bombshell so spectacular that it amazes me weeks after I heard of this treason. Nintendo is apparantly releasing a new campaign called "Enjoy with Wii" in which they attach motion controls to an otherwise exact replica of a Gamecube port. Did anyone notice why I didn't put down the Pikmin game that Nintendo is working on in the new releases section, because it isn't the Pikmin 3 everyone was hoping for but a port of the original Pikmin game with tacked on motion controls. But maybe I'm putting too much emphasis on the bad desision's of Nintendo, with any luck this idea will die shortly without putting too much of a strain on Nintendo's budget. Feel free to comment, the only person who has these days is Tennis12master. This is Platinum Pikmin closing off another controversial blog post. ;)
Best 3rd Party Games for the Wii
by Platinum_Pikmin on Comments
I don't know if everyone else has noticed, but the 3rd party developers that create Wii games are quite happy to take a year old port of an Xbox game and tack on motion controls (I'm looking at you Scarface). But these games have gone above and beyond to give a truly unique experience that any Wii owner should check out.
P.S. Feel free to comment on more that I might have missed..
Zack and Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' treasure is an adventure puzzle game that will have you scratching your head for dozens of hours.
Blast Works: Build, Trade, Destroy is the best community game on the Wii so far, inspiring people to create their own designs and the best use of wi-fi in a game. It's fiendishly difficult too.
Okami is a mind blowing action adventure game with possibly the most unique visuals of any game. The dialogue can be a pain for those who hate to madly press the a button to try to skip the cutscenes, but for those who would like nothing more than to see the story of a Sun God turned wolf unfold this is a game worth checking out.
