Where’s Diablo on that list? Not only did it spawn a genre, the loot system expanded beyond the genre as well. I believe Baldur’s Gate was made real time with pause due to Diablo’s popularity too; was definitely the case with Divine Divinity (I recall Larian’s CEO said it was originally going to be turn based).

Nope. Maybe if your characters didn’t move like they have crippling arthritis I’d think differently, but your mobility is so limited I had a hard time getting much enjoyment out of it. Shedders Revenge and Double Dragon Gaiden are much superior representatives of the genre, IMO, even though they both have their own issues (looking at you, ninja super taunt spam).

Which character did you play with? Each of the characters walk at different speeds. Cherry moves the fastest and Floyd moves the slowest. With Cherry, you can double tap to run.

Shredder's Revenge was such a disappointment after the stellar Streets of Rage 4. I found Shredder's Revenge to be vastly inferior, shallow and casual compared to SOR4. Haven't played Double Dragon Gaiden though.

I tried Blaze and the guitar girl (cherry?) and found them both to control stiffly, guitar girl was the easier of the two though. Shredder’s Revenge‘s biggest sin IMO was the super moves, they did patch a way to remove taunt charging in multiplayer but they should’ve given you an option to disable them entirely. It’s still on the easy side without them but you‘re forced to use a wider variety of the (many) moves available if nobody on your team is spamming supers.

DDG’s biggest problems are how short it is, how only Billy and Jimmy can use weapons, and how few moves per character you have available (some more than others).

Star Ocean 3 Til the End of Time has badly needed a remake ever since it was made, and no, the Director’s Cut was not sufficient. It could’ve been almost as good as Second Story, but some major mechanics, design, and QOL flaws held it back. Retconning that massive awful plot twist would be nice too, but it’s probably too embedded in the story to take out.

The recent Second Story remake (or remake of a remake, as it was) went very good (especially in the QOL department) and was well received, so let’s fix up it’s lesser sequel.

Very reasonable requirements, seems like my 1070 could have put in a playable showing had this game been interesting enough to purchase. Unfortunately DD2 has smothered any interest I may have had.

All that power (for likely $3000+), and I’ll bet it still stutters in Unreal Engine games. I don’t care about wildly gouged flagships like the X090 series, the true problem will be if/when Nvidia continues to match the price of every 5000 series card to that of the card of equivalent performance in the 4000 series, and AMD follows along with just a $50 price cut for each equivalent rather than taking advantage of the huge budget/midrange gamer void in the market.

At this rate I might just keep my gtx 1070 and invest in a next gen console for the graphically intense titles. $600+ for a mid-range gpu meant for 1440p is obscene.

Free is free indeed. That makes 84 games I’ve gotten from Epic through their free games giveaway. Granted, I’ve only actually played 2 out those 84 (and only for less than hour each) but free is free.

Now, if only they could invest in an actual decent store/launcher experience instead of the crap they shoveled out I might be more inclined to actually buy from them…

Compared to what? PC GPU prices are still insane, and have been for years now. You can buy 3 or 4 PS5s/XboxSXs for the price of a flagship from Nvidia or AMD, or one each for the price of a "mid-range" card from Nvida (AMD's not even bothering with that segment for this generation). And that's just for one of many components you'd need for a PC.

@arkephonic said: Nice! The grey camo is one of my favorites, it looks so good. Yeah, they should include a cable for sure. I like the dpad on the DualSense, Sony controllers have always been a gold standard for dpads, but actually the Series X dpad is my favorite now. It's clicky and tactile and leaves nothing to guess. It just feels really tight, like I've never been pulling off shoryukens with Ryu or Ken more easily. I always thought xbox had the crappiest dpads until now, they went from worst to first.

Yeah I was really impressed with the Series X controller, it was a huge step up mechanically and build-wise from the Xbone, and with a much better d-pad than the venerable old all-around mainstay 360.

I managed to play a bit of Sackboy last night with the Dualsense though and the controller seems quite nice as well though. The much vaunted haptic feedback was disappointing though, at least in that title. I’d heard Haptic on PC doesn’t work unless you’re wired, but even wired the wimpy little rumbles in Sackboy were pretty underwhelming. Is that just the game itself, or was I doing something wrong?

Also, why does Sony insist on making checking your current controller charge so difficult? It was obnoxious with the DS4 but that at least had the orange flashing light indicator. At least steam allows you to drop the brightnesss on that alway-on battery killer of an LED.

Mine just arrived, the Grey Camo version. Sony's so petty they couldn't even be bothered to include a necessary USB-C cable in with something they charge $70 for. Didn't really this controller, but it's another option for my PC controller collection. Haven't had a chance to use it yet but I'm liking how hefty it is compared to the DS3 or DS4, and the face buttons feel more "Xboxy" for lack of a better word, which is a good thing IMO.

Not sure I like this D-pad at all though. The way the all 4 buttons move when you press one despite there being plastic dividers between them is just creepy.
