Uncharted 2 This Weekend!

Good News (for me at least),

One of my Best Buy co-workers was sent to a gaming/media convention this week in Kansas City, and his gift basket for attending includes early retail copies of select video games, including Uncharted 2!

He will be back this Friday, and fortunately, I have a VERY small weekend work schedule, so I'll be providing some early hands on impressions of the game to those interested. And don't worry, I know better than to ruin storyline elements and/or spoilers - so feel free to ask my questions and I'll try my best to answer them in the next few days.

Rip 60GB :(

So for the first time in 19 years in gaming, one of my video game consoles died - and it just happened to be my 60GB launch PS3, which suffered the elusive YLOD.

Fortunately I'm trying to stay positive with the situation. After going to GameStop, I found that trading in my dead PS3, plus extra games and whatnot that I own would result in $150 in credit, which is half the price of the slim. Once I get everything traded in and sorted out, I'm, going to sit back for a while before diving in and buying a slim.

All the games that I chose to keep I have backup files saved on my USB, so getting myself setup from where I left off is not going to be too much trouble (hopefully).

Anyway, it sucks to lose a console, but it was a good nearly 3 years.

I've been casted for new Best Buy commercial!

Hey everyone, just thought I would share some really cool news!

I'm a home theater specialist for Best Buy retail here in Minnesota, and just yesterday at work, I got a call from our corporate office asking if I would like to be in the next commercial - and of course I was said "f*** YES!" I submitted my profile a few months back when a gentleman came in and took pictures of any associate interested in doing it, and I finally was drafted.

I go in for filming this coming Wednesday. No word yet on whether it will be a local or national spot, or whether I even speak. It's possible that I was drafted to be in the background showing me selling something to a customer - either way, I'm totally excited.

I'll keep posted when I get more information in the coming days. 8)

The aftermath of E3 this year....

Yes I know that E3 JUST started, and only MS has presented, but now that they have ended their presentation, I can safely say that the aftermath of announcements will not ruin the GameSpot boards like last year. The only "win" was Metal Gear Solid:Rising going multiplat, which most PS3 owners don't care too much about given that this arc seems to be just a branch of the overall story.

G4 talent (yeah I said talent) sounded shocked saying that the MGS announcement was bigger than it seems, but I feel that they are wrong, the entire franchise is not going to the 360, just the series moving forward, therefore, the epic and dramatic moments found in MGS1, MGS3, and MGS4, are still missing for 360 owners.

Overall, I am relieved that nothing really that groundbreaking was announced that will stir controversy here on the GameSpot forums, where I like to relax and be a part of, I still shudder at least years Final Fantasy announcment and it's reception, lol.

I'll post another blog in the coming days to give my overall feelings of the event, as Sony and Nintendo still have some big news up their sleeves.

Honestly, stage demo footage of GOWIII and Gran Turismo 5 will trump most of what has been presented already, excluding Modern Warfare 2, which looks Redonkulous!!

Later guys, and thanks for reading.

Graduation....FINALLY!

So after being in college practically YEAR-ROUND since the fall of 2003, I am finally finishing school and moving on with my life. Some may wonder what took me so damn long to finish, well it's simple....I started out a 3D Animator, realized that type of lifestyle sucks, and then went back to do my business degree.

A week from today will officially be my last day and then I get my bachelor's in Business Administration. What happens after that is a toss up, as the current state of the economy is rather bleak, therefore fighting for a decent corporate-type position is going to be rather tough. As far as gaming goes, I have no idea what I can afford to play and not play - I just know I am not going to give it up, lol.

So after all these years of reading, studying, and taking all sorts of tests across the board, I would like the thank the good people on here for keeping me sane and giving me a great place to unwind after all these years of studying. :)
