[QUOTE="Pro-Gear-Spec"] Really? Looks like you weren't around with the Halo Vs. MP Vs. Killzone and Haze thread back in the day. Lucky you.Spartan070

I was here before that, Flood vs Chimera vs Zerg ftw :P

I'm surprised you were, considering I have about 1000x more posts than you....:P

Amazing, I ask f you were here during a time relevant to the conversation and you actually avoid it and say you were here before that. It tells me nothing. It's like your saying you beat me in a unimportant race I didn;t know about. I was here before then to, but what relevance is that? What if you were here before then and completely missed the time we are discussing?

[QUOTE="Pro-Gear-Spec"][QUOTE="Spartan070"] Halo CE sold well, I'm willing to bet MP in HD will do much better. Plus Super Metroid on that controller would be amazing.

Spartan070

You're saying that a game that has a consistent did well, agame with an incosistent fanbase willdo better? Not tomention Metroid games usually don't sell in the numbers you are implying and do much better? That's a vague statement in need of elaboration.

Metroid Prime sold very well for a Gamecube game. Plus it's near perfect.

Using a critic system that includes bias reviews is not a smart move. Also, near perfect? That's a bias opinion with no substance. This also includes the fact that Gamecube games sold well in general.

[QUOTE="Spartan070"]

It's a win-win

Spartan070

More like a lose-lose. Why?

1. It's bad enough the Wii U is getting called a port machine

2. There are quite a few Metroid fans who HATE the Metroid Prime series as much as Mortal Kombat fans hate MK4, Deadly Alliance, Deception, Armageddon, and MK vs DC as well as Sonic fans hate Adventure (1 and 2), Heroes, Shadow, Sonic 06, Colors, and Generations

3. They'll release the censored version of Prime 3 (though this reason isn't that big, just thought I'd point that out because of Prime Trilogy)

And there is another reason I'm pretty sure everyone knows about already, so I won't repeat myself.

I agree with all except #2. There are of course people who prefer 2D Metroid but MP is easily lauded in the upper echelon of all time gaming. I've honestly never heard anyone, not even on SW, ever say that they hate it. Still, you make some good points.

Really? Looks like you weren't around with the Halo Vs. MP Vs. Killzone and Haze thread back in the day. Lucky you.

[QUOTE="Pro-Gear-Spec"][QUOTE="nhh18"]You are trying to tell me that mario kart wii isn't the exception in terms of sales? Because mario kart wii sold more than 20 million WW. I doubt many games achieve those type of sales.

nhh18

What does that have to do with anything? What does Mario Kart wii have to do with western games consistently selling well in the west?

mario kart sales are the exception regardless. It isn't as if japanese gamers don't buy western games. It is proven to be untrue. It is that western gamers have made only a few games that sold exceptionally in japan. These are spyro, crash bandicoot, banjo kazzoie, donkey kong country.

What? mario kart sales are not the exception to anything. The topic is is there any western games (U.S.A focused) that did well in japan consistently (Meaning the impact actually lasted) other than Crash 2 and 3. Has nothing to do with Mariokart, and you have not answerd the question. Most of the game you typed were inconsistent to the point in hell.

Since they released the collection on Wii not too long ago, I doubt it.

Yeah but didnt Uncharted 3 sell over 200k on first 2 weeks in there? thats as much as most games in there, the only game that sold over 500K in first week in japan was Tales of Xillia this year and last year was FFXIII over 1.5 million so $200k is lots

nhh18

Sigh, once again, big hit: Means games that consistently sell comparable numbers. How long do you think Unchared will sell well compared to a game like say, Mario kart 7 without dying in the process sales wise? Not likely. Few games have done this. Infact,I am quite sure it's a single didgit number below 7.

http://ps3.ign.com/articles/881/881472p1.html

"Is it possible to give a game an 11? If so, this would be the game that would merit that score. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is a title that exceeds all of the hype that was attached to the title. Regardless of whether you've seen every trailer and screenshot, read every preview and heard every interview, you won't get a full sense of how phenomenal this title is unless you sit down and experience it for yourself.

Legends die hard and deserve a heroic story that lives on when they are gone. Metal Gear Solid 4 is such an ending for the legendary warrior Solid Snake. Not only does it sum up the full franchise of Metal Gear, its depth and its complexity, coupled with its technical prowess, make it one of the best games of the year and, indeed, one of the best games ever made. Get some well earned rest, Snake. You've earned it. We salute you."

"Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is the most technically stunning video game ever made. It's also a fine example of storytelling prowess within its medium, combining gameplay and narrative so slickly and beautifully that it's impossible to extricate one from the other. It's likely you will emerge awestruck from your first play-through, wishing the experience would continue yet nonetheless satisfied with its conclusion. It's difficult not to sound hyperbolic when discussing MGS4 because every part of its design seemingly fulfills its vision, without compromise. There is no halfway."

All the big critics think MGS4 is the best game ever made:

http://gamer.blorge.com/2008/06/21/metal-gear-solid-4-big-three-says-best-game-ever-made-on-all-systems-ps3-xbox-360-and-wii/

Reviewers have saidMetal Gear Solid4: Guns of the Patriots is one of the bestvideo gamesever made, and that includes this-gen systems such as PS3 and Xbox 360 all the way back to NES.

To review such a game is simply impossible. Not a single person lives or will ever live that is worthy of playing, experiencing Metal Gear Solid 4, let alone review it and any attempt to do so is a falsum and flawed by nature. And yet, by some miracle somehow I found myself happening upon the privilege of playing it, it was a strange and wonderful experience. Like shagging a super model, all the while you cannot shake the feeling of shame and guilt, the feeling that this should not be happening, that you are not worthy, that she is too good for you, but damn it if you are not going to enjoy it for as long it is going to last anyway...

With that being said, yes MGS4 is factually the best game ever made, whether you like it or not.

Also; hatred originating from disreputable gentleman shall continually persist..

So we are going by what critics say? This means Crysis 2 is the best game on consoles PERIOD. /thread No, not really, also, the game is liked by many but let's note one thing. I am not calling it a movie or anything, but the game obviously, regardless if you think it go or anything similar, that the games does not focus on gampelay as much as a cinematic media experience. The gameplay is limited in this way and does not add much gameplay. That gameplay is restricted because of focus on animation during the scenes then the actual gameplay control during gameplay and because of that the game is not balanced on both ends and that's a glaring noticeable flaw which cannot be ignored even if you would kill for the game. So best game of all time? It may be in your opinion but I believe simple logic debunks this.

Let me describe big hit for the uninformed. Big hit as in has comparable numbers to japanese games.
