[QUOTE="Pro-Gear-Spec"][QUOTE="Rick_Henderson"]

Ratchet and Clank was immensely successful in Japan.

It was the first western game to be bundled with a console in Japan and it's also the first western game to break into their top 100.

ActicEdge

While I have to relook your first statement, your second one is false, Crash was the original record breaker. It made it in the top 50 I believe or higher.

Actually Donkey Kong Country was successful before Crash was but not the point.

Like I said before I am talking mostly U.S.A. here. Also, 2nd party Ips don;t count as they are owned by the japanese company.

Crash was Awesome (: I wish they make a proper one. Actually Jak and Daxter the original one was Awesome too. Boy I miss the old Gaming days when it was about playing not graphics.

Joedgabe
Yet you say Jak, which was made for the sole purpose of showing off the PS2 with tacked on gameplay that was done before mostly (Yet. to be fair, they did it better and added interesting twists.) Also, Crash was one of the best looking series on the Ps1, heck Crash 3 was almost at the peak with abrely any PS1 game touching it. Also, the Ps1 and N64era were about graphics, and the ps era was about graphics as soon as the Xbox came out. But you are entitled to believe what you want even if it's wrong.

Japanese people have "weird" tastes, so I would think not.

Tikeio
That's a very vague and narrow opinion you got there.

While not as significant as it was, this problem still exists between Ps3 and 360. Do you guys think we should fault the developer for what could be a hardware limitation or failure? Do you believe by this point, there is something wrong with the PS3 that is causing problems with tis multiplats? I mean, the recent Crysis 2, RDR, Rage, and Skyrim as well as others had me thinking, why the gaming media (except GS) is so hard on PS3 titles holding them to X360 standards? So so you think that its right to rate games based on hardware? Do you think reviewers should note the hardware, or Dev talent in a multiplat and rate it differently depending?

Other than Crash Bandicoot 2 and Crash Bandicoot 3, I can't think of any western games taht were big hints and or broken records over there before. So I just wanted to double check, any big hits and/ro record breakers in japan for games made in the west? (mostly U.S.A.)?
