My initial thoughts were pretty much on the border of "this game is ok." Of course, I decided to keep on and I'm happy to say that I haven't had this much fun with a game in a long time. I'm about 25 hours in and just started Chapter 10.
I have the PS3 version and I am really enjoying it so far. From what I understand, the difference between both versions isn't that huge, with maybe the PS3 looking a little more polished.
I'm into trophies. My friend got me going on them. All it took was for him to one day point out the fact that he has a higher rank, and now I'm hooked.
Conjuration
Same thing happened to me. I never really cared until a buddy pointed out that he's trying beat me in rank. That's when the flood gates opened.
Tough choice, but VIII wins out for me. IX was wonderful, and probably easily the most fun I've had in any FF. However, something about VIII always grabs my attention. I love the characters, the music, and the whole damn theme of the game.
