Fire Emblem is set in a fantasy world and Advance Wars is set in the future ( duh-huh ). But a real difference is that Fire Emblem is more of an RPg than a strategy game and Advance Wars is more likely to be considered a stradegy game.

I've been dying to check it out since last year. Looks cool, I'll wait a little bit more to get my hands on it.
