Am I growing more lazy?

It seems that I'm not very interested in playing RPGs, especially JRPGs anymore. I'm actually dreading them now. I look to multiplayer games or stuff that can be finished quickly for my gaming needs. Am I growing lazy enough to not bother with RPGs anymore or am I adapting to the times? I have a pretty massive list of Steam games that need to be finished but I have never bothered to finish any of them because there is some sort of dread I have when I mouse over it. The gaming gods wont let me play anymore RPGs DAMN IT!

Comparing books and video games

I just started reading books again since college and finished several of them. Game of Thrones was one of them. It made me realize how video game stories are horribly bad and will almost never be on par to book stories. It actually made some games I have been playing, boring. I just can't continue Suikoden 5 anymore because I feel the story just feels too much of the same stuff.

My backlog frustration

I know I posted a blog entry before about my backlog issue, but the thing is, I really don't want to play those games. It's not that I don't like the games, it's just... for some reason, I just can't bring myself to continue the game. I don't know why I can't just get it over with and finish it like other shorter games. Maybe my laziness is rubbing off on my gaming now? Does anyone else have issue like these or am I just REALLY lazy? Maybe my new year resolution will be to finish a game every week until I'm finished :) Usually I end up playing BF3 when I take too long to decide what I'm going to finish or try to finish. I surf the web, look at gaming news, indie game news, browse forums for games no one has ever heard of, look for visual novels, porn and then eventually, I give up and continue my book. (Game of Thrones)

Trying to give Valkyria Chronicles 2 a chance but...

I just can't seem to like the gameplay at all. It's just too damn slow for me. I try and try again to like the game but I keep dreading going into a mission. I just wish I could rank up my squad faster and get to the more interesting classes and not just shoot the enemy with my gun and tank all the time. The Story missions are the best in the game and I enjoy doing those but I rather not go in there "underleveled". Should I just skip the "extra" monthly missions and concentrate on the story ones until I have to grind? Don't get me wrong, the customization is definitely top notch, but I just wont enjoy the grind to get those equipment pieces. Maybe It's just because of how much of a completionist I am because I keep going for every single mission until I've completed the month. I'm still only about 3-4 months in though so if someone can reassure me that the missions will get better then that would motivate me to keep playing. Sorry if this sounds like a rant but I really want to like this game and finish it but I just can't stand the slow and easy combat. I enjoyed the first VC but can't seem to enjoy this one.

Ar Tonelico 2 frustrations

I bought the game last year along with the first Ar Tonelico and decided that now is the time to play and finish the game since I already have the third Ar Tonelico game. Don't ask me why I don't just play the new game. I just refuse to skip out on a previous game. I feel like I might miss out on something important in the third game. Anyways, the game is great but the infelsphere part of the story is so damn annoying! I was just rushing through those sections so I can get it over with. My real frustration though is that you'll get an ending depending on who you advance above chromosphere level 6 first. I thought it was going to be dependent on the choices you make throughout the game like Ar tonelico one. I really wanted to get Jacqli's ending, just like I got Shurelia's ending in the first game. I didn't like the first 2 characters at all but I wanted to get their song magic up so that I can rush through some of the dungeons. Unfortunately, now I'm locked into Luca's ending. Stuff like this bothers me alot, even if it wasn't done on purpose because now I have to play through the long ass game twice. I don't have another save other than th one near phase one where you pick sides between Cloche and Luca. I really don't want to watch the Youtube ending of it because I feel like I just ruined the experience for myself. Thanks for listening guys.

Does anyone remember the Putt Putt Adventure games?

Those were the first PC games I have ever played that I can remember. I also played some Mickey Mouse games back then but I can't really remember anything before that. I just know that my parents had to install the games for me with the floppy disks and then have a guy come in to fix the computer when something was wrong in game. Anyways, I was wondering if any of you guys have ever played any of the Putt Putt games or just and very old PC games when you guys were little. Oh, if you want to see what the game looks like, here is a link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwqdbbGaIoY edit: Okay guys, as I'm reminiscing about my childhood pc games I vaguely remember another game that I played alot back then. I believe it's a little newer but all I can remember is you play as a humanoid animal, fox maybe, and you embark on a point and click adventure with him to solve mysteries. I can't remember the series name. It might have been Pajama Sam. I GOT IT! It's spy fox from the same guys that made Putt Putt. God damn, I loved those games.

For those of you with a huge backlog

Have you ever wondered if there was an easier way for you to get through your games quickly but still enjoy most of the game? I have a huge backlog of games spreadout through the PC, PS2, PS3, PSP, and DS. Most of them are JRPGs too, meaning it's going to take 40+ hours to finish the game if I'm lucky. Whenever I decide to play one of the games on my backlog, I always decide not to, and that I'll play the game later. I revert back to playing the PC games that I enjoy so very much. I just wish there was some way for me to play through a game without wasting time grinding (Even if it's fun), figuring out puzzles or doing side quests. Walkthroughs would work well but it's not exactly you playing.

Youtube Easter egg?

I apologize if this is old, but if you hold down the left arrow key button and press up on any Youtube video, something amazing happens. This works on all Youtube videos.

Is the mod community really like this?

I'm looking for mods over at various Morrowind mod sites and I see one thing in common. Authors tend to like keeping "their" mods to themselves. When someone is making a compilation of mods he/she will always give credit to everyone and even a message in big words saying that he/she did not work on any of these mods. Even with this, some egotistical mod authors threaten him with "legal action" to take down his compilation or else... Another example is having a great mod be taken down by the author from all download sites just because someone else is uploading them to other sites. They also state that the mod isn't theirs and they are just uploading it. People who download mods are now forced to look all over the internet just to find a download link for the mod. I feel really bad about the mod community as a whole after all these incidents. I'm sure you all have opinions that are supporting those authors and their great work but you make mods so other people can play them. What difference does it make if they are reuploading them? I'm sure there are people who credit no one and say that the mod belongs to them, but then again, why would you care? Most people wouldn't download from them anyways, and would spot the fake author easily. I never made any long terms mods myself but with the few models and skins I have made, I really don't care who uses it or who uploads it. I'm going to quote some authors here and give my opinion about what they just said. No names of course, I wouldn't want to get sued for using a copyrighted name :) "And while giving credit is a good thing, the old "better to ask forgiveness than permission" does not apply to copyright law. Which is what we're dealing with here." "I'm drafting an email to the person responsible for this at the moment. If it's not removed, I'll follow that up with DMCA notices. If anyone else would like to do similar, feel free to join in. Edit: Email sent, explaining the issues and requesting that it be "resolved." Hopefully there won't be any issues with this, as soon as things are explained. I am of the opinion that it's high time we show that the Morrowind community has zero tolerance for plagiarism. It's been in the rules for a while, but too many examples have been let slide (GIANTS in particular). " --Would someone seriously involve the law over something like a modification for a game? "I suppose I am a kind of "Gollum" modder, but not because I think my mods are precious. Rather, I keep them close to make sure that I can ensure a certain level of quality maintenance. Even now (and for the past year) I have been updating all of the textures in my MHP to higher levels of detail and resolution. I want to make sure that the mods I make available are the best that I am able to cobble. Its hard to update something for the better if it is locked within the confines of such a compilation." --This guy does make a good point though. Still, you can always work with the compiler to make sure he has the most updated version of your mod. "I always say yes to people using my mods and I've always made it clear that you can do whatever as long as credit is given. So something like this doesnt bother me in the slightest - I can see why people would be peeved but at the end of the day, why mod and release something you dont want other people to use? Alot of modders use the excuse that their mods cant be used in compendiums like this (or re-uploaded) simply because they are not surrported for version changes. " "I'm strongly against intellectual property and copyrights. In my opinion, if you release something to the public, it becomes property of the public. If you don't want that, don't release it." --Sadly, some great mod authors don't agree with this. In conclusion, has modding really become serious business?

Found a huge Corn Snake in my bed room

It must be there for all the god damn rats that scurry around during the night. I honestly wanted to leave it alone and kill all the rats but sadly I have a female room mate who is fearful of snakes. If I left it where it was, she would have probably killed it with the replica sword I have in my room. The snake was too beautiful for me to kill it so I got my garbage can and lead it inside. Keep in my that I'm also afraid of snakes so I don't want to bring my fingers any where near it. I called a friend in a local pet shop and he said he would release it in a field somewhere. I kind of feel sad for letting it go since it's a nice looking snake but I don't have the time to care for it. Honestly though, how the hell did it get inside the house considering it's size? Must have been some stealthy ninja snake. If you guys are wondering, I'm in Florida where there are plenty of corn snakes.
