First actual owned-in-the-house game system was the Texas Instruments TI 99/4A home computer. It was a glorified game system with a keyboard and the ability to "save" stuff onto a TAPE RECORDER with fax-like noises. It had some really good games though: Parsec, Alpiner, Much-man (I know, right), and Pole Position. Played it for hours.
