best of 2010 and new year cometh

So after being consistently out voted by Mass Effect 2, red dead picks up 3 awards simply because Game spot likes it more & they make the rules. Not saying i dont like RDR, it's a great game with good atmosphere & well worth playing. Trouble is, I found it sort of tedious at times while i was immersed in Mass Effect until the end. So much so that i got the books.

Enough about that. 2010 was an interesting year but 2011 is looking real promising. fingers crossed for games like Skyrim being as Epic as i expect. Happy 2011 everyone, hope for a good one.

gaming overload.

It has been a good time for gaming over the last few months. Between playing the brilliant Red Dead Redemption & the release of Halo Reach i've been kept quite busy on the gaming front. Add to that the recent arrival of Civilization V and It's made it quite difficult to get any actual work done. Now Fallout New Vegas is on the way to totaly destroy my social life with Dragon Age 2 not to far off either. Good times indead for the hard core gamer but awful for my wallet.

Now im off to throw some more time into taking over the world of Civ V.

Game Room

Ok I must say i love seeing my avatar knocking about in a custom virtual arcade but what is the deal with the game-packs? are they just demo trials or are mine just not working right yet? The games currently available are mostly not wonderful but with time i'm sure there will be some true classics. Arkanoid would be nice. I've got myself a game just because it was created in 1985, like me. Actually it's the arguably the best title available at the moment anyway so win win. I hope that they pump some good titles into this though as i can see it being a really nice pick up & play option for my 360.

ffxiii

So i've reached disc 3 of FF13. I've been playing FF since 97 when i bought a coppy of 'VII' thinking it was a fighting game. Instead of feeling stupid & dissapointed i fell in love with a game that showed me how much i could engoy gaming. 'VIII' Was also great even if it did fall a little short of the hype i'd built up for myself. 'IX' Dropped the ball in the limit system ( TRANCE SUCKED ) but was still a good game. With the RE-release of ff 1 & 2 -> ffV & ffVI I'd compleated my collection of main title FF games & for the most part enjoyed them all. I had fully gained a feel for the series that linked them together.

'FFX' was every thing i'd hoped it would be & i've clocked up more hours on that than any other ps2 game ( and probably a few of them combined ).

Then X-2 ... happened. could have been awesome. It was not.

XI being an MMROG was not my cup of tea but i still enjoyed it while i played. It just failed to grab me into a story.

XII Felt less like a FF but was still a highly enjoyable game.

so now FFXII :

I like it. I love the story. The Fight system is different & interesting. But it is the least FF like of them all so far.

It has taken untill disc 3 to find some where open & not totaly story focused. For me that limits replay value.

I feel lie ill enjoy this game untill the end but i doubt it'll make my most played list.

MAssEffect 2 I'm coming.

I have owned Mass Effect2 since release. I have yet to play it as i am the other side of the country & will be until i take the 8 hour journey tomorrow morning at 4am 0_0'

Oddly I've been the only game I've had a craving to play lately is Civ4 again. Further proof that the best games have lasting appeal.

another year older

My Birthday is pretty much upon me again, Having a Hero themed party just because i can lol. For anyone trying to guess my age i'll put it this way: I had wolf 3D, the 2d DukeNukem games & CommanderKeene on One floppy disc. =3

Also I had to use Dos to play them & when i played Street Fighter It was on a shiny new arcade machine with no way else to play it.

and a happy new year.

Just wishing everyone the best for the newyear. im going to go get ready for a good night.

See you in 2010 everybody ;)

Suck it 09 lol

merry christmas to all and to all a good night

Happy festive season to all. Any who don't Celerbrate Chritmas to you i wish a good season regardless. May good things come your way and when they do may you pass the goodness on. Now im off for a cold walk & a hot whiskey. My last few drinks of the decade.

willing to give them a go

In my experience most games with movie tie-ins have sucked. Even those that seem made for becoming games often turn out rubbish. With that in mind it's hard to give new games based on movies a chance. This is why i was so shocked by a few gems i played over 09.

It began with X Men origins : Wolverine. I tried the demo and after getting through that i instantly went to my local Xtra Vision to rent the full game. Even the parts of the film i didn't like (they ruined dead pool despite having the perfect actor for him) were grand in game. Not a game i would personally buy but was more than worth renting.

With that being as good as it was i played the Batman Arkham asylum game. Not truly a movie game but still a comic book title. It was in fact the best comic based game ever created. Finally a comic game that didn't suck ( actually Lego batman was fun ).

I played the ghost busters game & found it had atmosphere and charm i didn't think it could capture.

What is going on? I'm not sure but i like it. lets hope Tie-in games of 2010 will be as good.

Mild dissapointment.

I've just passed Dragon Age Origins. This was a great game, one well worth getting & i will be playing through again as a different character type. that being said i found the ending to be far too short & ultimatly unsatisfying. considering a lot depends on choices made throughout playing i understand why but i would have liked just a little more. A feeling of achievement, other than just the actual 50G's that is.
