DRM - Killing PC Games

- Converts PC gamers to console

- Teaches legitimate consumers how to crack a game (when you struggle with it enough you will eventually learn how to defeat it)

- Installs Spyware and other things you never approved of onto your computer.

- Requires an internet connection to install single player games.

- Limits the ammount of reinstalls you can do. (PC gamers never have to reformat harddrives, install new hard ware, have a total OS crash. So what harm can it do¿?)

- Encourages piracy

- Is sometime IMPOSSIBLE to remove, not kidding, some codes are too deep into your computer that you can't delete them.

- Runs more opporations on your harddrive, slowing and sometimes crippling performance

And ontop of this all they never forewarn you that they put this in your game (you only can find out through forums). They should reserve a small space on the back of the box next to system requirements what this games DRM will do to your computer.

My New Comp

As i have stated often i cant decide on what next gen console i want...i finally got one. I gave up all all the crap that you get from consoles:

  • $10 extra for every game so the console (nintendo, sony, etc.) get their royalties
  • Consoles are controlled markets...not even Billy Gates can say "Manhunt is too violent for PC"
  • PC's can do much more then play games, you cant use Word or Powerpoint on your PS3 can you?
  • Every time a new gen comes out we all throw away our perfectly good old consoles and stand in line for a new one just cuz microsoft or sony said to...PCs age but are never useless
  • Instead of buying next gen consoles every time u can just upgrade the Graphics card every 2 years for a more efficient price
  • Consoles have no room for expansion, the graphics never change or can be changed once a game has reached its optimal standards

So heres what i bought:

  • Manufacturer: Me - Asus P5K Motherboard - 650 Watt PSU
  • Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 2.4 Ghz Rated At 9.02 Ghz - (Pre- Overclock)
  • Memory: 4096MB RAM
  • Hard Drive: 250 GB + 320 GB Seagate Barracuda SATA (72000 RPM)
  • Video Card: eVGA Ge-Force 8800GTS 640 MB
  • Monitor: 19" Dell 1800FP - - OR - - 17" Dell E173FP (soon to get another)
  • Sound Card: Realtek HD Audio
  • Speakers/Headphones: USB Altec Lansing Plug and Play Headset Mic
  • Keyboard: Logitech G15
  • Mouse: Logitech MX518
  • Mouse Surface: A cool jell thing that prevents carple tunnel.
  • Operating System: Windows XP Professional 32 Bit SP2

I Really Need HELP

I am having severe computer troubles and I really need help.

Symptoms:

My screen has pixels that are out of control in the sense that they spasm (not dead or stuck) However my monitor is in good condition. I pluged it into another computer and it worked like normal. I ran a program to search for dead pixels and that did not help. Besides the fact that whenever I am on the internet and I scroll up and down it is laggy, not smooth as you might see in older computers. When I boot up my comp this is what happens, The main 2 loading screens are visible but blocks of color changing pixels are ligned up orderly around my screen. When it gets to the login the names (of my family's logins) are blurry but I can click out of knowledge from past logins (where mine is), when I log in it is usually clear like normal for the first 2-3 minuites until pixels randomly cluster my screen.

Ok, so we know the screen is not the issue.

What I've Tried to do About It:

Next I check the graphics card (ATI Radeon 9800 Series 128mb) to make sure all connections were stable between monitor and card and motherboard. Besides this I installed the latest card drivers (ATI Catalyst Control) and did a Norton Virus, a Werbroot Spysweeper scan, ran CCleaner and tried a system restore. None of this helped.

The Day This Happened:

I was playing Counter-Strike Source like usual, had changed nothing in the game. Once I quit I read the Steam annoucement page to find to my interest that I could use a Steam beta version to incorporate my Steam community ID. I chose to do participate. Feeling tired I went to take a nap and watch TV for an hour or two to find my computer in screen saver as expected, once I wiggeled the mouse I found a red bar of dead pixels running vertically up and down my screen. I took it as a minor fluke and turned off my comp. The next time I turned it on there were 4 color changing bars running up and down my screen, from there it got worse, to the point were my entire screen was completely covered in color changing pixels. Once I changed a few things on my comp I got it so only the right 1/2 of my screen is pixelated. And thats wereI am now.

My Specs:

Manufacturer: Dell Computer Corporation

Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHz (2 CPUs)

Memory: 1022MB RAM (4x256mb DDR)

Hard Drive: 119 GB

Video Card: RADEON 9800 SERIES 128mb

Monitor: Plug and Play 19" Monitor - Dell 1800FP

Sound Card: SB Audigy Audio [CF00]

Keyboard: USB Root Hub

Mouse: USB Root Hub

Mouse Surface: A cool jell thing that prevents carple tunnel

The Biggest and Best of E3

GEARS OF WAR

From the video these are the best things about GoW on PC

- XP AND Vista

- Level editor and such added features

- 5 bonus levels

- Co-Op on PC as well as Xbox

- Able to run Windows Live (People with GoW on PC can play those with Xbox 360)

CRYSIS

Ya this looks like the next "Half-Life" its going to have all sorts of great interactible features. Because it's on PC it will have the ability to have a fully interactive environment, if it looks like it can explode it will. Past gaming concepts such as the "Sky Box" or "Back Drop" are not in this game...meaning there is NO LIMITS asto where you can go.

Seems like it will be cutting edge graphix and futuristic game play which will draw a Large PC crowd. O ... By the way It's only on PC. WOOT, (PC gaming is a dying breed and this should help us)

Peace Out Y'all

The Next Gen, your thoughts

I possibly might buy into this next gen but idk what to get. I do have 3 options though:

1: Buy X360

2: Buy PS3

3: Wait for PS3 and 360 games to port to PC (and get a really good PC...I mean amazing)

(Wii is not an option)

but you have to take a few thoughts in consideration 1st...

1. X360 has Gears of War, Dead Rising and promises Halo 3 BUT onine cost an annoying fee

2. PS3 has Resistance Fall of Man, and free online BUT costs alot more and may not be so successful

3. PC is alot more versitale than any of the other 2, BUT some really good games won't port, or will take forever. Halo is just comming out soon (and X1 has had it for how long??)

What do you fellow gamers think I should do, I am open for all opions, even if you think it may seem stupid, I want to hear it

THX!!! Happy Holidays

X-Fire

if you don't know what xfire is go here- www.xfire.com

but i got it for Halo PC and it's great, what it is is its a voice chat/profile thing for most PC games

Breaking News-IPOD GAMES, i can screw with them

I bought "Mini Golf" from iTunes when it was new,  now i have found where it goes, besides in the "ipod_control" (http://www.wikihow.com/Copy-Music-from-Your-iPod-to-Your-Computer) folder it also goes to where ever your iTunes folder is, once you compile all the fragments (it should be 4 or 5 folders) you can copy it to a friends computer (free)

right now i am making an extremely helpful guide on all info of putting ANY (like doom for example) game on any ipod if someone could enlighten me on how to upload .txt  documents to gamespot i could just post it somewhere

ill just post some of it in here, if u dont understand then contact me.

-----IPOD_CONTROL-----

So you can't find "ipod_control" well you shouldn't be able to, it's hidden. To make this folder unhidden you need to open up "My Computer".
Then select "Tools" then "folder Options" and click "View" and look for"Show Hidden Files and Folders", select it then "ok".
This is how you see the stuff you add to the iPod with iTunes (it's also the way you copy music from a friends computer, the music may look like it's all codes and you have no chance of decodeing them but iTunes will understand it.)
The "ipod_control" will be inside of the drive that names your iPod (for example, you're looking at "My Computer" click on "Your name's iPod"

-----MINI GOLF-----

These files must be switched to a Hidden format and pasted into "ipod_control"
The only files that should be coppied are:
Games_RO
GameStats_WO
GameData_RW

The files:
iPod Games
iPod Games Library.itl
must be placed into the iTunes folder and no further.

As for those last few documents, they are meant for "Mini Golf" I don't know yet how the file change in between games. I am currently working on getting more.

I have also heard that once you've downloaded each individual game your account info is tied in to the coding and the game must be authorized to that computer. This may only be a rumor but it is a potential problem.
*Any games you download from iTunes only work on 5G iPods (Video) but Note Games will work on almost any.

-----NOTE GAMES-----

GTA San Andreas is a note game (you choose what you do by answering questions) and you only add it the same as you would and other note, the entire "GTA San Andreas" folder goes into the notes, do not empty the contents (for your own mental safety).
GTA Mini has the exact same info, the only difference is the questions/paths to choose.
