Played this at PAX today and it was ... not great. Could just be that it's not for me, considering I prefer a strategy game with a grid, but nothing about the demo felt intuitive and I wasn't thrilled with the fighter options.

My biggest critique of the game is also its greatest asset: not having a directed story, which also happened to be the permission slip to just do whatever you wanted and not feel guilty about it.
I wish those development resources went into something more interesting, yes. Smash 4 wasn't even that long ago.
@ni6htmare01: Maybe. But I think Nintendo has looked at this and found that people really do use it as both.
I think this is another case of Microsoft trying to win out with technology and not thinking about the actual user. These are games. They're meant to be fun. People will buy fun. Will they buy a streaming concept? I really don't think so.
I'm so glad someone made a topic about this, because I'm about 3/4 of the way through and I don't think it's amazing, either. It's good--and at times very clever. But wayfinding is annoying, the combat feels slow, upgrades are few and far between and boring, and the story and writing are just passable. It often plays like it thinks it's more entertaining than it is.
