It was never a good idea and such a waste of Bluepoints and Media Molecules talents.

Only fun game that came from this Jim Ryan Acid Trip was Helldivers 2. & even that was ****ed up with how they handled cross-platform log-ins.

Game Spots quality for articles has really plummeted over the years.

It's not Tropical Freeze which is platforming perfection.

Nostalgia can only carry so much.

That's a lot of words for a remake that doesn't even show the blade going through Aerith anymore.

@shadyacshuns: A fandom being happy with a game doesn't make it better than its competition. Sonic X Shadow is a great Sonic game, but doesn't make it a better platformer than Astro Bot.

@texasgoldrush: Seems like a great game but stating the game you played is better than games you haven't played has always come across as a bad take.

My favorite games of 2024 are Astro Bot, Crow Country, and Dragon's Dogma 2. But do I feel they had to win? not really, seems at least eight worthy games in 2024 had a chance to take the W. & it will always vary on personal preferences.

Not played it but seems deserving, new IP from the Persona team and they commonly fire out bangers.

The Thing didn't play great when it came out and we just saw Soul Reaver (an older game) get an 8/10 with less changes to modernize the gameplay.

The Thing Remastered completely redid the combat and movement for the remaster, environments have been changed, and altered the transformation system to no longer be scripted. The remastered version also overhauled item placement to prevent softlocks.

& again, plenty of older games aged like wine, The Thing just so happen to always be janky but loveable despite that. Even with this re-release it's still very much the spirit of the original game. I'd personally give it a 7/10 but a 6/10 is fine too. It's not a must play Survival Horror game. But it is one that challenges the norm and dares to be different.
