I plan on buying a Xbox 360 elite, and I have some concerns and questions. I live in New Mexico, right now the ambient temperature in my room is about 90-100 degree fahrenheit, that's 32.2C - 37.7C. Now I have been seeing people complain about overheating with ambient temperature of 85F or 29.4C. Now I can only imagine that the increased temperature is only going to increase thelikelyhood of having problems. I am sure I will be doing some pretty long gaming sesccions and was wondering what other people expience was with high ambient temperature? Is there a cut off point for example running the system at full speed at 100F is just definately going to overheat it?

I have read over the cooling systems(the nyko intercooler and the pelican stand fan) you can get for the console which I am going to look into, which I believe should be enough, while doing other things to try todeacease the overall ambient temperature of my room. Although the PSU is still kind of scaring me. What I have dicided to do is use the box technice without the top, but by adding some vent holes at the bottom of the box and then placeing a fan which can use the box to make a directed airflow over the PSU. What do you guys think? Will it be enough?

One more thing, the HD. It comes with a 120MB detachable HD. I am guessing it will attach to the side of the xbox, this don't seem to be a the best way to do it heat wise, but might be the only way, is it? Is this going to make much more heat then the 20MB or am I looking into this too much?

Last thing, again New Mexico has a lot of dust. Have there been many issues with this. Should I be worried about this? I don't want to have to open the Xbox to clean it, so I can keep the warrenty considering all the problems. In a relitively high dust environment, without cleaning (inside the xbox), and high ambient temperatures, it seems that a problem is inevidable, any other tips?

if you are thinking of buying an intercooler don't!! they get rid of your warranty.

Also i just called MS and they told me that they are backed up 1 week because of flooding

Is there a way for microsoft to tell if you have been using an intercooler? And, is ther any benifit to using it?

The 360 needs to find itself in the $150-$199 range for it to sell big numbers. The longer they wait on dropping the price, the better the chance Sony can stay in this race. Meanwhile, the Wii is steam rolling with its $250 price tag.

The price is waay more important to casual gamers/ average consumers than alot of us think. especially with the tighter budgets people find themselves on lately.

Well, my launch unit has croaked..

no red ring though, apparently the graphics card is dead. I get audio, no video. $139.00 to fix it.

I dont know if i should get it sent in or hope for a recall. I guess its going in.

Nintendo: I would love to see a game that implements the controller in a beutiful way.

There will be prettier race car games, but Forza is much more than just graphics.  The racing and everything else is so good.  so smooth too.

Of course Im a little bias, as this is pretty much THE game Ive been waiting for this generation.:D
