@Phelaidar: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QB0VKmk5bmI it long as F*** but explain why 4k on the right hardware won't be a problem. Food for though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1HLWe4-GI9k. My point is this Yes DX12 isn't the magically gaming pony we have been looking, but it is a great step forward in the development of games. Once companies like dice or ubisoft fully utilizes DX12 were going to see graphically leaps in games with a console that can finally got that tiger uppercut in hardware they can now expression more creatively and less technically. Beside fluid is great and all it but it not the only fluid simulator. Unreal and all the other gaming engine have their own fluid simulator already built in so fluid isn't need, they just need the hardware to push the water simulation. like you said the spec to run that GTA mod is out of the price range for some gamer, so why would AAA company waste the time polishing a game to that level, but now they have a reason.
@Phelaidar:If you watched all the video on DX12, the key world they use is communication the exchange between CPU and GPU has always has some latency which has cost the PC to have hick up, DX12 is actively removing these Hick up creating better communication between CPU and GPU. I think 100 utilization is incorrect you may be a coder, but I'm a artist, but I think we can both agree that 100 percent computing power just for a game on a OS that was build to multitask isn't applicable nor profitable for Microsoft or Apple. Game are second nature to PC regardless how the PC is built. Software os has to take up about 10 to 20 percent of the PC computing power.
What is life without optimism. DX12 isn't magic but it is a huge step forward in gaming. just in test along they were seeing huge improvements.
We don't buy console because they are affordable, no we buy them because it more accessible for games where on a PC it so much crap you have deal with that the mass don't want to deal with. It like every time a game come out on PC you may need a new graphic or processor and I'm sorry that a lot of therm paste for me. Where on a console I buy the game I play the game. Yes that my ignorance talking but who want to spend 1000 dollar to found it true or not. That the real reason why console gamer don't PC game because were lazy. (don't get me started on the Mods) My personally opinion controller tend to suck on PC, your going to say well maybe your not using the right controller. I say again I do not want to do trail and error to research a suitable controller.
It not the 80's People have the money to blow rent is 2000 dollar for studio Apt in my city. If the Xbox elite controller can sell out for half a year you can bet your butt cheeks hairs that neo and Scorpio can too. Shit I'm saving up right now as a manner of fact.
@Phelaidar: Were talking about hardware built to run 4k compare to hardware which has the option to run 4k. there are so many apps running in the background of a pc, it's not hard too understand why it can't maintain a stability 4k resolution 60 fps. If developer do opt out and go with a narrative 1080p the amount of photon (Bounce light ( http://www.storylabs.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/LIGHT-COMPARISON.jpg ) ) they can add to the scene will increase and resolution polycount for models as well. ( http://img-new.cgtrader.com/uploads/blog/large_13631f9a-2e18-4db3-a763-5444be1e70e8.jpg ). As, the years go by the DX12 will grow and developer will create tool to enhance scene even farther. We may see game with this level of graphically depth ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyAg0h7uxv8 ) on Scorpio. Either way it a win. Microsoft know now after selling a control which is $150 that they can sell a system that promise to often true 4k gaming/video and 60 frame per second at a jack up the price, which to them is like going all in at the poker table, and Fine tune scorpio with some ridiculous hardware at a discount price for themselves. I'm guessing they are looking to sell at $1000 to $1500, $1800 max. I'm basing that price off the asking price for hololens. How ever you feel about Microsoft a suit up console is something to be excited by.
@sladakrobot: DX12 make porting PC game over to the Xbox one easier, it the fine tuning the game so player get the best quality from console game is what slow down development.
@Phelaidar: Don't know what your talking but it not that hard to get 4k resolution. They have the software DX12, they just needed the hardware which they can get from anywhere it just getting it for the right price.
@Atragon: Yea I think they clearly or tried to inform everyone that the game is going to have RPG element in the unveiling when ryan pulls out his the watch it clearly say skill. and ryan got exp for every kill. Plus if you listen to the conversation among the squad the person who is control the drone used a group buff on the team. megan used a team heal. what realistic shooter give you group buff and healing abilities. the gameplay was captured in the darkzone it shown when he pulled up the maps. Now the citizen being in the darkzone is missed leading, but everything else was spot on to today current gameplay. also at the end very oddly they made a reference to going to Manhattan.
