The Metroid guy was the Creative designer for the Metroid Prime games and he is now the mission designer for Halo 4. Basically meaning the game will be gold. However the Killzone guy was the level the designer for Killzone 3 and that game had crap single and multiplayer maps :(
Yeah its a pain in the ass. You also need to consider the fact that most people would rather just put the disk in and play andI don't know about you guys but most of my friends wouldn't be bothered building or maintaining a gaming PC so there is a lack of mates on it aswell

Ninty cares about gameplay first and not following what other devs/publishers do like what you are talking about.These types ofgames as you describe can sometimes be so incredible they end up being the highest and most praised games at times as seen by last years SMG2 mostly, KEY and DKCR and SMG in 2007.I wish I can find that pic describing brogamers.

There's far less badass characters than people make it out to be. Bowser, he's a badass. Bowser gets the princess multiple times a game, and we can assume it must be good because Mario continues to go after it even after Bowser has hit it multiple times.
