The brink of destruction

For a while now ive been giving serious consideration to finding a job in games journalism. Its always seemed like the perfect job for me, and by perfect i mean its a job where you play alot of games, and tell people why you did or didnt like them. However, I realise that the description i just gave is nothing but a pipe dream. Any form of journalism comes with a number of factors that could easily decimate the dream in seconds. Its not an easy job, making youself imune to your own preference and writing to accomodate for all of your readers from a purely unbias perspective hardly seems easy. There are a few other problems, like the one that was raised when alex reviewed robocop. How do you give a fair review for a terrible game, i mean how far into the game should you go in such a situation. Can anyone imagin playing a game you hate and finishing it to the extent where you can review all aspects of the game. Painfull. I have my own set of problems as well. Firstly im dyslexic (id like to thank the spell checker) and writing has always been hard for me. The next problem is online games, my current situation leaves me with all my consoles offline. FInally money, Im a student living off a student loan, that has already got me a Xbox360 and a Wii, how much further can it be streched? But if i where to get to some ripe old age and im working in some stupid convenience store or any other crappy job, I would hate myself for never trying. So here i am, Today is the UK launch day for okami, and after my class finished me and a certain Pablo Phoenix will be heading to manchester town center to purchase the game. My intention is a simple experiment. So far i dont have too much trouble writing blogs, and im doing well with most of my university essay's, so now id like to try my hand at reviewing games and okami will be the test subject. Okami has always looked like an amazing game to me, and from reading a few reviews back when it launched in the US i dont think i will be dissapointed. The problem is resisting giving a game like okami a 10. I am horrably over critical, however if i like something im more inclined to simple overlook any minor problems i have for the overwhelming fun of the game. Im sure ill work somthing out. Anyway im gonna have to go to class. Check back in the next few days for the review.
