i don't quite get why everybody's so hyped about this game, but i heard so much about it lately i had to check out a review. to me it looks like a less interesting and less visually appealing version of don't starve, that on top of that seems to have tedious mechanics don't starve doesn't have (and don't get me wrong here, don't starve is all about being tedious, but in a good way). is it supposed to be a Sims-like?

@dzimm: and it did get a score to reflect that. so be happy!

Edit: also from what i read in the comments, the game punishes you for not logging on every day. for me personally that's a clearcut "unplayable", because no game should ever do that. MTGarena is the best implementation of MTG as a video game, yet it has that same vibe of you needing to do daily quests. the point where i was figuring out during which weekdays i should do my daily quests is when i stopped playing the game completely (about a year ago). games should not ever ask that. it takes out all the fun and exchanges it for "work". and to not be a hypocrit here i do play Nioh 2 at the moment and yes there will undoubtedly come a point when i will grind for armour and weapons, but i'll do that whenever i decide.

sorry ranting longer than i planned, but this is close to my heart. games really should not reward you for playing it daily. take uncharted 4 MP for example, it rewards you for NOT playing the game a few days. now that makes much more sense doesn't it?

i know the feature of backwards compatibility sounds intriguing, but before you get emotional about this news, wether because it's great or because you think the way they implement it sucks, ask yourself: are you actually going to use it?

i kept my ps3 connected all this time and it still is today. ever since i got a ps4 (just before Bloodborne was released) i have not once played a game on my ps3. it's right next to my ps4 and it takes the same amount of effort to turn it on and start a game, i just don't do it.

maybe you are different in this regard. but as far as i'm concerned this is a great feature on paper, but pretty useless in practise.

(side note: i do however use my ps3 to play audio CDs, which the ps4 is hilariously incapable of, even in 2020 after countless updates, at the end of its so-called lifecycle)

well devs, go nuts and impress us! and i don't just mean in graphics and performance, because that doesn't mean much if the standard gameplay is still point and shoot. impress us with innovative and fun gameplay! i'm very interested to see what the ps5 brings with it.

holy tengu guys, can we talk about the actual game for a change?

i have to praise the leveldesign in this game. there are some big improvements here. it seems a lot of the main missions have different paths to the boss, usually the "normal" and most obvious way and a shorter, but harder path. naturally for me (and presumably a lot of you guys) this just means more gameplay, since we're of course clearing the whole level before attempting the boss. i also like that the bosses/main objectives are clearly marked with a purple orb on the minimap, so you always know when you're standing in front of the boss area to make sure you have done everyting you wanted to do before proceeding. the owl-level mentioned in the review might have been my favourite one so far. that red searchlight focusing on you combined with the dark realm and all enemies aggroing on you really turned me around. i hope there's more stuff like this to come. the levels also look very beautiful, especially the outside areas.
