I'm using a S/PDIF from my PS3 to my PC and the green, orange and black (pic below) connection from my PC to my speakers.

Basically what I done was connect my PS3 to my PC moniter as it's the only way I'll get HD, my parents have yet to make the jump. The thing is though, my moniter doesn't have speakers, so I thought I'd connect it to my PC using the S/PDIF input connection and hopfully my PC can redirect (or decode first if it needs to) the audio to my speakers, which are analogue. Is it possible?
Would I need to download any additional software?
i current have 1gig RAM on my PC. (512MB sticks in each slot)i was planning to upgrade to 1.5GB but heres the problem. the brabd i currently have now is made by Samsung (well it has the sticker on it) and the RAM im current looking at is this:
http://www.amazon.com/ValueRAM-400MHZ-PC3200-KVR400X64C3A-1G/dp/B0000V1A8A/ref=sr_1_2/103-6295559-4351817?ie=UTF8&s=pc&qid=1183465864&sr=1-2
and i just want to know will the 2 brands work with each other or will i have to buy the exact same brand?
