Rax_Quintanilla Blog

Rax's Blog V.2.0

Just finished my new banners and I must admit I really like them :D. Now I'm exhausted, tomorrow is "Terror Thursday", which means tons o' work and meetings. Cya and thanx for coming!

Ninja Gaiden Black... I LOVE/HATE ITAKAGI!!!

SWEET MOTHER OF JESUS, NINJA GAIDEN BLACK IS THOUGH!!!

Even though I received it as a Valentine's Day gift, it has only made realize how much hatred my being is capable of producing... But I love it!

The game is as hard as nails, but once you start noticing which combos are useful where, it gets annoyingly fun. Hope my controller can keep up with the punishment :D

Ghost Recon: Advanced Burrito Fighter

I was looking at the latest GRAW screen shots and I was really amazed. The game looks pretty darn good, but some little details bothered me about its "landscape art":

1) Burrito ads. I've been living in Mexico City for 18 years and I have yet to see a Burrito ad.

2)A sign on a building that says:"La fuente del auto". That's completely retarded!! Does "The fountain of the car" mean ANYTHING to you?

3)Palm trees paradise!! Ok, this one is not THAT wrong. In fact, Dr. Vertiz and Reforma avenues are famous for its palm trees. But that's just 2 streets in the WHOLE city... There are none of them in downtown like depicted in the footage and the trailers.

Ok, how many freakin' times must I say this: MEXICANS DON'T EAT BURRITOS... We eat T-A-C-O-S!!!

Well, I hope now that's clear. :P

Don't get me wrong. I love the fact that it's gonna take place in my home. Just get rid of those old mexican-taking-a-nap-on-a-cactus clichés away. I've seen lots of major american cities, and I must say they don't quite compare in size, traffic, and population to  my ol' stinkin' overcrowded city. They're cleaner, I give you that ;)

Finally, I did it!!!!!!!!!!

Yup, your guesses are right: I fianlly finished PoP: The two thrones!!!! And I must say I'm completely satisfied!! This game was complete tour-de-force. And I think it's the best ending I've seen in a very looooooooooooooooooong time!

Next targets: Burnout 3 & Chaos Theory

Ubisoft is one preety darn good company!

Yesterday I played PoP: The Two Thrones 'till 12:30 PM... Even though I ended up exhausted, I went to bed with an ear to ear smile. This game is pretty awesome. Yeah, it has its graphical flaws (looks really dated) but character development is magnifique.

While I was driving to work today I realized that Ubisoft is great at making you care about the characters you play on their games. The prince, Sam Fisher, you units on Brothers in Arms (I played it only at a display, but got hooked by it) just to name a few. And they sell us the games in Spanish (even though is "Spanish" Spanish, if you know what I mean), and they always have the same cast for each game. (EA took note about this when they released FIFA 06 with mexican TV sport announcers. But I hope more and more developers and publishers keep taking notes).

Just think about... How many characters really make you feel like that? The great ones, that is... Go go Ubi!

A new game for my B-day

Yay!! My bro just gave me today PoP: the 2 thrones because of my birthday (a little late, I'm from Jan 2). What I love most about Ubisoft games is the "Spaniard" voice acting we get over here. It's freaking hilarious!!

The sad thing about it it's that wedding schedule is getting thighter, and gaming schedule is getting midget-size :( . No prob, though. Late night saturdays are great for solitary gaming!!  (And it's not prison lingo for the morbid, dirty, and foul things you're thinking right now! )

Ladies & Gentlemen, finally...

Well, it took me 2 years... But I finally got myself the reason why I bought an Xbox: KOTOR. That's right folks, even though the game has been on the Platinum Hits line up for quite a long time, I hadn't seen it until today.

The graphics haven't aged well, but there are still some nice little details that stand out here and there (like the shiny Sith armor). The gameplay is something completely new for me. This "pseudo-real-time" combat mechanic is one of the most elegant game design displays I've ever seen. That, or maybe I haven't played a lot of RPG's in my gaming life. The voice acting is solid. The Star Wars sounds are all there. And dual wielding swords are just plain cool.

KOTOR is a great game (but I know 99.9999% of you already knew that... Since 2003). And yeah, I'm sooooo geeky that I got pretty excited when I went to the Sith party in Taris :P.

Finally bought Def Jam:FFNY!

I got it at Blockbuster for $19.90 . It's a really adicting game. I even started a new chracter with different styles and I'm pumping both at once! (Mmmmmh, that doesn't sound quite right  ). Now I wanna try it on multiplayer with 4 buddies. Sounds like one heck of a cool game session :D

Got Burnout 3 back!!

That's right folks, I lost this little gaming gem when I sold it to get my soon to be wife a nice present during my unemployment days. But now she gave it back to me as a Xmas present and I can't be more happy about it !!! I love this girl!!
