Thank God I didn't preorder this. Already payed for the demo, which was meh. And this is coming from a guy who finished 3 out of 4 previous GT's. I'll wait untill it goes plat and get it for 12$.

Also one question: Did they finally add AA to the final game?

The GT5 prologue was jaggy as hell!

I've recommended this JRPG again and again but I'll say it one more time - Resonance of Fate.

Saw the review. Looks promising. But they keep mentioning it being very hard with dying often...? Is it true? Or do the reviewers just suck @ it?

FFXIII wasn't *that* bad.xsynth

Don't even get me started on FF13... That game prooved 2 things:

1. Square assumed they can stop making quality games, and replace them with oversimplified, linear, uninspired and overhyped RPG look-alike's and that people will be dumb enough to buy it without thinking.

2. That Square was right.

I weep for the gaming comunity of tommorow.

You might like the next installment (versus looks brilliant) Maybe try disaega? I haven't played it but heard people like it haxsynth

I'm all for story over graphics, but there IS a limit. A game that can run on my phone with FPS to spare is not smthing I'd consider buying for my PS3. I did hear it to be a great game, though. Maybe there's an iphone version... :D

What you need, sir, is Valkyria Chronicles.funsohng

You may be right. I tried the demo a while back, liked it, but never quite got around buying it. Always seems a bit weird...not really your typical jRPG. But the reviews seem great, so I'l put it on the purchase list.

Any other titles worth playing?

1. Uncharted Series (uncharted 2 better than 1)

2. GOW3

3. Batman Arkham Asylum

4. Heavy Rain

5. MGS4

(6. Gran turismo 5)? We'll see. Reviews have been bad so far...

The 1st one I bought for my PS3 was FF13. Preordered it. Loved the series until then. Finished FF13. Will never buy a FF sequel again. Awful.

Recently bought star ocean: the last hope. Playing it now, fighting myself @ every turn to keep playing it, but once I manage to get over the horrid and irritating voice acting and generic story, this game might just turn out ok. Exploring and fights are great.

Also tried Folklore as I've heard good things about it, but so far it's been extremely weird, boring and no fun at all. So I'll skip that.

Anything else out there worth playing?

Thx

P.S. I should add that I've played most titles such as mass effect 1-2, Oblivion/Fallout , the witcher, etc. So the PC titles are out. Only console exclusives.

I said what I had to say. You can rationalize it all you want. The game is for kids. It's shallow, simple to a fault and more linear than any FF game ever made. I'm sure there are many kids with no gaming standards that like it, simply because they don't know any better, but that doesn't make it a good game. Defend it if you feel you must, but my opinion is based on expirience, not heresay and is therefore not swayed by empty talk. Unfortunately, 90% of people here weren't even planned for when the FF series began, hence discussing a game series most never even played is pointless. So I'm not gonna waste my time. Enjoy your game. You deserve it, just the way it is. ;)

[QUOTE="SteveTabernacle"]

[QUOTE="CraigyM83"]Regardless of what anyone thinks it is, it's Final Fantasy made by Square Enix how they wanted it to be. I'm suprised people are still wallowing in the past.TheEldestGod

I agree. I'm very much like Yahtzee and Jim Sterling on this subject. Developers should ignore fans. Fans are chains that hold games back by forcing them to adhere to rigid formula. Make the game you want to make to fit your vision, and just go with it. All this talk of this not being a "true" Final Fantasy is without any merit at all. If SE says this is a Final Fantasy game, that's what it is. No amount of stubborn denial will change that. To those who don't like the changes you have a simple option here, cash in your chips and leave the Final Fantasy table. Because it's obvious the series has simply left some of you behind. Final Fantasy is a big name in a shrinking increasingly niche genre.

Changes to broaden it's appeal beyond the "fans" are an absolute must. The chains have been broken, and I doubt SE will willingly be chained down again. You stay classy, Squeenix.

Good lordy you people just don't get it. Sure its Final Fantasy in the literal sense. How could anyone deny that?? Its just not FF to some of us who were used to it the way it was, liked it that way, and expected it to stay that way. Final Fantasy has changed. Oh well. All good things come to an end. I'm enjoying the game, but I can easily tell you its not my favorite. So far its sitting at about 4th place, though, so thats not too bad. Square Enix isn't listening to fans anymore, so don't worry about that. They, like everyone else, are trying to reach a much broader market and know that most people don't like JRPGs. So, guess what... They didn't make one.

Exacly. In a nutshell, they ditched their faithfull fans in order to make more money, making a game that SHOULD appeal to a broader audience...the problem is, in order to reach a broader audience, you have to make a game simple (which speaks a lot for the gamer population ans/or the population in general... IQ anyone?). And a simple FF is like Blizzard removing levels from WoW because they suddenly feel they make things too complicated

I have yet to see a sigle person who liked the FF 3-12 say they are completely happy with the new game. And this is not surprising, as to us this game feels like it was made for little kids. Sorry, but it's true. And as good as the game's story and graphics are, the shallow and simplistic design decisions really show. I was hoping, praying that FF 13 would NOT end up like Sqaure's last failiure "The last remnant", but instead it turned out even worse in some aspects.

In short, FF is a solid game with a good story and graphics, but nothing more. And as most FF fans can tell you, this is not good enough for a FF game.

So this brings me to my question: With the new RPG-s that came out for the ps3 lately, which one would you recomment for a real jRPG fan? I'm really in need of a solid jRPG which knows it's place. Star ocean or White knight chronicles? Maybe a 3rd one?
