Ride With Pride.

I've never been a fan of racing games. I always prefered point and clicks when I was little. Never saw the point in going round and round the same bit of faux tarmac for stupid amounts of laps. Also, I was unfeasibly bad at them, mostlybecause I never got the hang of braking. I was fine at Mario Kart and Need for Speed because they were goofy and fun and braking wasn't strictly necessary, but anything even remotely serious has always been instantly written off in my mind. Until now.

Forza 2 is awesome.

You can tell instantly the amount of time, effort and love that's gone into that game and it's just gobsmacking how different each car feels and sounds and the sheer amount of possibilities in the game. Coupled with that you also have stunning design and presentation and an awesome soundtrack to make it easily one of the best games I've played in ages. It comes off kind of like an rpg with cars [a car-pg?] because of all the upgrades and personalisation you can do.

With the great British summer being as wet as ever this week, and with being off work, I've lost days to the game. I don't even spend that much time racing, mostly just tweaking parts and painting the cars up. At first the editor takes some getting used to but once you becomeaccustomed to it's somewhat cumbersome console stylings you're away and hours just disappear. Whilst it would be nice to have a paint brush, or a grabber, or countless other art package staples in there, part of the fun is working out how to do something with the limited tools at hand.

The auction house is a really nice touch, but also crammed with abominations that raise questions such as; why must every other car have a naked cartoon girl just plonked on it; why would you try and turn almost every car into a police vehicle, complete with drawn on lights; how can you slap a bunch of manufacturer logos, cartoon flames, random shapes, and a god-awful colour scheme on everything, irrespective of its design and shape; how much time did you waste on that; and, of course, why, why, dear god, WHY?! Still, it does makes you appreciate the one in every 1000 or so that is actually original, inspired, and brilliantly executed.

My designs aren't great, but I'm improving, and it's nice to see the evolution of how far you've come. My first car was just black with red lightning, then I had my black 68 Mustang with simple green gradient, then I turned the rubbish 1970 Porsche into a kind of 60s spymobile in orange/yellow, and now I have these two designs I'm actually pretty pleased with.

The image quality makes them look pretty tepid compared to in game but the general jist is there and there's more shots in my images section.

If anyone wants to combine or swap designs my tag is:

It doesn't seem to like displaying it in my profile for some reason.

That's me done for now, probably post more designs again shortly.

Until the next time,

Adieu.

P.s Don't play Tenchu.
