I think it really depends. I like normal difficulty or hardcore difficulty. I only play hard if i have enough time because games take a long time playing on the hardest difficulty and sometimes it's just beefier enemies with more health not more challenge really.
One example I can think of is Mass Effect 2. The insanity run was fun but I question if it was worth it. Yes it was satisfying but the mobs have so much health you just sit there shooting really.
Secondly I think a game that did difficulty right was Dragon Age: Origins. The game is brutally hard in the beginning but by the midway and end you steamroll through everything it was great.
It took me quite a bit to get used to 3D. My first 3D game was probably Twisted Metal 2 and Super Mario 64. Both took time to get used to and Super Mario 64 I used to slip and fall off all the time. I'm used to 3D now.
It was a solid game and actually ran on a variety of systems. It was a very graphically intense game for it's time. Personally I prefer the new Doom and Older dooms but Doom 3 did it's own thing.
Sometimes it can be a GPU driver issue. If you have Nvidia make sure you only use WHQL approved drivers. Beta drivers cause issues like this. If you have AMD make sure you only use the best tested drivers and rollback if necessary. Beta drivers can cause these issues.
That's normal but I did find something interesting. I had an AOC monitor I've had for over 5 years. However sometimes the HDMI signal would go black on my AMD cards. I tried two different cards so it was definitely the monitor.
In this case a monitor replacement did the trick along with replacing the cable. I have a Xiaomi budget monitor and it works much better because I never get a black screen.
Windows Xp unfortunately I got Vista instead of getting 7 big mistake. 7 was the bomb when it came out but yea Xp was light years ahead.
It doesn't need to be illegal but it just needs to be made that the previous version remain playable.
