[QUOTE="RedMattis"]

A few friends and I have been looking for a new more challenging MMORPG. The game that previously had us most entertained was World of Warcraft, though most of us left it for good a when we felt the overal difficulty decreased.

What we're looking for is basically:

  • A challenging game, preferably challenging for a team.
  • Great team play/roles. Not just piling DPS, but supporting each other (Crowd Control, Healing, Aggro management or whatever)

That's pretty much it actually, yet somehow we've failed to find anything decent. Is there any game like this out there?

sSubZerOo

Eve Online..

I haven't really given it a serious try myself. Mind elaborating on the reasons you think it would fit us?

It's not quite an MMO, but Guild Wars 1 did offer some excellent team roles and dynamics (most of the content being designed for a party of eight characters/npcs), and quite a few interesting challenges throughout its four campaigns. Planeforger

We've been looking at Guild Wars 1 actually. It's a bit of an old game though, and I was curious if anything similar had appeared since then. Is it really alone in the group-based-challenge niché of MMOs?

The non-endgame in World of Warcraft is a joke compared to how it used to be. Nowadays you could slam your face on the keyboard and still win the average non-endgame fight.

Are there any games out there with a decent team challenge that isn't in the "endgame"? Ignoring the obviously needed grind to test new classes it feels kind of absurd to be hammering away at the big toe of some sort of pseudo-titan boss to get a decent challenge. Exploring the world and, for example, fighting Defias in early WoW post-beta around and in Westfall and the Deadmines was a lot more fun (though maybe that's just nostalgia ;))

I much prefer a game that quickly starts kicking my ass rather than a game that spends most of the time serving me whipped cream and cake if you get what I mean.

Theres ForestCraft (for Xbox) and a host of small games like maniac digger and a buch of other work-in-progress games, can't remember which ones of them has started getting anywhere yet though. :P

I'm working on a game kinda like Minecraft myself (No Sanctuary), its not playable yet, but at the very least it will be a free version of it when it is. The link is in my signature.

[QUOTE="CptJSparrow"]The type of vampire from Underworld -- the one without pathetic weaknesses like crucifixes.jlh47

Or you could just be Dante from Hellsing.

He has virtually no weaknesses. Not even the Sun stops him.

cuz he's a direct descendant of dracula and arguably the most powerfull one.

Damn it people, I already said, his name isn't Dante! Dante is from Devil may cry.

Also, the vampire from Hellsings name is Alucard, and he isn't the son of Dracula, he IS Dracula. You're mixing him up with Castlevainia's Alucard who's true name is "Adrian Farenheights Tepes", and uses Alucard as a nickname to show that he has turned away from his father's side.

Alucard from Hellsing (Vlad Tepes, Dracul (Dracula))

What you should do depends on what sort of relationship you have, and how much you con tolerate.

Some people are in relationships were one or both partners goes around sleeping with other people and they are fine with it. If it is 'just' sex then I personally wouldn't break up with a girl about it, but I would be worried that she might be getting into another relationship, and not being happy having me as a partner.

Relationships on the side however I would personally not be fine with, and unless she could dump the other guy I would probably break up with her. Competing over someones love probably isn't going to be a lot of fun, despite it being such a popular television plot cliché.

My recommendation would be to find out if it was just sex, and if it wasn't, if she would be ready break up with the guy to save the relationship.

White Wolf's vampires are best.

I wouldn't want to be a vampires in a setting where the old vampires are described (in the books) as deep within only wishing to die... DAMN! Is that EMO or what!

Vampire the Masquerade from White Wolf was a bit better, but they are still utterly screwed up. Who would seriously want to be something with killing urges so strong that only the people with the most incredibly strong willpower could hope to have a night at a nightclub without flipping out and killing everyone? Eventually you would end up killing everyone you cared about. =

You wouldn't want to be a Hellsing vampire either by the way, they might be incredibly powerful, but as described in one of the more resent chapters they really just want to die too.

If had to chose between vampires I'd pick the Dracula kind of vampire. Sure, dreading crosses and all, but at least I could still go out in the daylight without combusting, and hang out with friends without trying to kill them. :P

Anyway, if I could be any fictional race I would probably be so cheesy as to pick a Free Angel, doing random acts of good, but mostly being low-key, that sounds like a good life. Oh, and divine powers is a huge plus! :D (In Nomine kind if I had to chose a published setting)

Edit: here is a picture of an angel.
