I am very happy that the Red Wings defeated the misbehaving Calgary Flames!! So, because I am not that eloquent, I am going to post the article on Game 6 of the 2007 Stanley Cup Quarterfinals. I have no claim to it, and intend no copyright infringement, and am new here, so let me know if this is not allowed. (I put my favorite parts in RED and my comments are italicized).

Franzen's revenge; Wings get 2OT win

CALGARY, Alberta -- Johan Franzen scored in double overtime as the Red Wings beat Calgary, 2-1, on Sunday and finished off Flames four games to two in their first-round playoff series.

Franzen took a cross-ice pass off the boards from Wings captain Nicklas Lidstrom, cruised into the high slot and wired a shot by Miikka Kiprusoff at 4:23 of the second extra period.

Detroit, the top-seeded team in the Western Conference, will meet either the sixth-seeded Dallas Stars, who face the Vancouver Canucks in Game 7 on Monday, or No. 5 San Jose in the second round. It was the Wings' first victory at the Pengrowth Saddledome since April 3, 2006. What a time to pull out THAT win.

The Flames' loss capped a difficult day for the team as the organization was fined $100,000 and head coach Jim Playfair an additional $25,000 for their players' actions in a penalty-filled finish to Saturday's game in Detroit.

Robert Lang scored Detroit's first goal and captain Jarome Iginla had Calgary's lone goal.

Detroit outshot Calgary, 55-21, and dominated the faceoff circle Sunday.

Kiprusoff was outstanding in the series facing 255 shots, but he could not carry the Flames on his back to the second round of the post-season.

Lang was dinged for hooking at 11:43 of the extra period. Flames forward David Moss had a chance to end it on the ensuing power play, but his shot deflected high off the helmet of a sprawling Hasek.

Calgary forward Craig Conroy took a double-minor for high-sticking Tomas Holmstrom at 6:44 of the extra period, but Kiprusoff was outstanding as Detroit's shots on goal crept over 50. Fox Sports Net Detroit reported that Holmstrom, who was cut in the face, was taken to an area hospital.

Kiprusoff shut down Henrik Zetterberg on two excellent chances and held the Flames in it even though they were outshot 17-5 in the period.

Detroit's Todd Bertuzzi hauled down Stephane Yelle for a holding penalty 32 seconds into overtime, but the Wings limited the Flames to two shots during the power play.

Detroit winger Dan Cleary hit the post to Kiprusoff's left with 1:17 left in regulation. I literally swore out loud.

Iginla scored his second of the series to give the Flames a 1-0 lead at 3:09 of the second period, but Lang evened up with his first of the post-season at 16:54.

Lang caught the Flames flat-footed on their own blue-line and fired the puck between the pads of Kiprusoff to tie the game.

After losing every draw at each end of the ice in the first period, the Flames finally won an offensive draw early in the second and it led to Iginla's goal.

Daymond Langkow fed Iginla in the high slot from behind the net and Iginla fired the puck past Hasek's outstretched pad.

GAME NOTES Detroit was scoreless on five power-play chances while Calgary went 0-for-4 . . . Flames defenseman Mark Giordano caught a puck in the face off a Mathieu Schneider shot in the first period, but returned to the game . . . Flames defenseman Robyn Regehr (knee) skated Sunday morning, but was a scratch for the fourth straight game . . . Defenseman Brent Lebda was not in Detroit's lineup. His leg twisted awkwardly into the boards while checking Daymond Langkow on Saturday. Kyle Quincey was Lebda's replacement . . . After losing two games at the Saddledome last week, the Wings switched up their stall assignments in the visitors' dressing room Sunday. Hey whatever works right?!?

"We lived and died by him and we didn't do enough to help him," Flames defenseman Rhett Warrener said. "The amount of shots he faced, that was like three series for a goalie."

and my new friend OhB sent me this picture of the Playoff logo/slogan, so I am adding it here!

After I saw OhBones banner, I asked my daughter where I could get one.  She told me to go back to the profile of the person that had the banner, and see who made it. I was lucky, because the artist posted a comment on the blog about the banner.  I promptly went and asked about a banner for my own profile. I have already stated how much I love the Red Wings, but now, with my new banner, I do not have to state it.  When people come to my profile, they will be greeted by two of the greatest players and the best Hockey rink that there is, in my opinion anyway, centered around a "shocking" Red Wings symbol, .  I saw that OhBones had posted a blog to thank dj_mrt, and I wanted to do the same.  I do not have many friends yet, being that I am a new user, so I can only recommend my newest friend through this blog. If you would like a banner, of anything, (It is TV.com, and he was able to make a Hockey themed one), go and visit dj_mrt's profile, you will see many thanks and many thrilled friends that have banners that he has made.  He is extremely generous to be doing this in his own time, with nothing but thanks required.  Thank you again, my new friend. 

At first, I thought that my computer had a virus, but then I called my daughter and she told me that (unfortunately) this site gets a lot of bugs some times and it pretty much won't let you do anything.  She told me to go to my Film Spot profile and post my blog (well, more like a complaint) there and it will show up at TV.com also.  That is where I am and what I am doing.  I just wanted to thank all of you for being so friendly thus far.  I never thought I would want to come here so often, but you are all very friendly.  I tried to post a response on a forum, and it won't let me do that either, so I will try tomorrow.  I really enjoy DreamCruise's blog, although I cannot comment on it yet because of the aformentioned problems with the site.  I will try soon again.  I do not know what to write my blogs about so please forgive the pointlessness.  I just felt so welcomed and wanted to thank all of my newfound friends here.  Now, if only the site was working properly, I would be able to go and tell them all in their blog.

I also wanted to know what to write in my blog, because I think that I should update it more often.  Please lend me any suggestions.  I have seen many different things in the blogging, and I don't think I am cut out for the young hip things that most people discuss.    

Hey, I just joined, and I love hockey, and everything Red Wings! They are my favorite team, I grew up watching them.  My daughter got me hooked on some newer shows, and she signed me up for this site, so, here I am.  I hope to learn more about technology, (she called me a luddite, although I do not know where she learned it from).
