..."With sales of 11.90 million copies so far, Splatoon 2 for Switch is several million units ahead of the best-selling Wii U game of all time, Mario Kart 8 (8.45 million units)." - How many copies did Mario Kart 8 Deluxe sell though? Wikipedia (with no source given to be fair) claims combined Mario Kart 8 sales of 41 million. 41 million - 9 million Wii U sales ~= 32 million > 11.90 million.
@weissritter: Technically true, although perhaps they just need to accept their fate. Become successful enough within your field that people don't even remember what your competition is called and you'll probably become the de facto name of the field. Ask Aspirin, Hoover, Band-Aid or Realtor how well defending their trademark is going.
Where is this 66 number coming from? The official site says there are 65 confirmed unique fighters and 3 confirmed echoes for a total of 68, no matter how you look at it there aren't 66 of them. Did Nintendo forget to reveal someone they were supposed to reveal at the end of E3 or what?
@redhedjack: GoldenEye holds up though. I played GE again earlier this year, haven't played since back on the day, still holds up. I mean, it looks a bit blocky (but so does the rest of the N64 library) and the frame rate is a bit unstable (also more or less true for most of the N64 library), but the gameplay is still there. The control scheme is practically the same as modern console FPSes, dual analog (but on the N64 your "second analog" is either going to be the C-buttons or the D-pad (or a second N64 controller in single player)), you could literally map GoldenEye to play like a modern FPS in an emulator, I don't really get why people keep saying GE and PD don't hold up.
@alistairbrogan: Not a bad idea, but I still think no Rare games will be a problem since they were arguably beating Nintendo at their own game back then. Given that Nintendo + MS + Rare + whoever else couldn't make an agreement to get the XBox remaster of GoldenEye released, I'm not feeling confident it'll be on the N64 Classic, and it ain't the N64 without GoldenEye.
