Well i basiclly see it as a good thing for the industry but a bad thing for hardcore gamers. I just hope that the next gen consoles won't all be like the wii so they can get sells.
I, for some reason, have an itch to play a football game. I've heard from friends that NCAA Football 09 is probably one of the better football games to come out in a long time. I've been told that the game plays very different this year, in a good way. That gives me hope for Madden 09, since most of Madden's new features are shown in the NCAA games. I don't follow sports games, so I'm taking people on their word here.
I was also thinking about picking up All Pro Football 2K8. One because it's the spiritual successor to the greatest football game of all time, EPSN NFL 2K5 and two it's only $19.99.

Yeah NCAA 2009 is awsome All pro Football 2K8 wasn't good at all unless you want to rent it but the buy value is minimal do to the fact that there is no multi-season mode.
