have you read the reviews that are counted on in Metacritic?

There are journalist with integrity, who treats games with respect and considers their quality with long history of gaming in hindsight.

Then there are journalists who treats game reviewing as a task which just needs to be over with, and has no regard over the quality of the game in respect of its predecessors and influences, as well as gauging expectations of the target crowd to the finished product.

Any review which does not mark down a PC game for the lack of manual saves and lack of dedicated servers (where multiplayer is an integral part) cannot read without a large bucket of skepticism over the professionalism of the reviewer himself.

Not to mention lack of advanced graphical options (for a "grand game") and modability ( with regards to its direct competitor).

Bad review sites which no regard of true professionalism are all over the web. Gamespot had became one amongst them. ( at least in the PC subdivision)

I am, but something tells me it's going to turn out to be really bad.Gooeykat
Not only that i have that feeling, i know that it would turn out bad unless some drastic action was taken. An arcade RPG-shooter identical to Hellgate: London with limited ammo is a very bad design choice. And judging by the videos, the enemy health - weapon damage balance is seriously out of whack. Those who wish to comment on Borderlands should at least had played Hellgate: London. For those commenting on class systems should at least had played Titan Quest with it's absolutely wonderful dual class system.. Haven't yet? These games are for budget prices now days, and Titan Quest might just entertain you more than Borderlands.

[QUOTE="dakan45"] because thats what i thought about invisible war and look how much they dumb it down to suit to the console fanbase.smerlus
Suit the console fanbase? You do know that DE:IW didn't sell well on consoles. If DE: IW suits the console fanbase then Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing was defintely made to suit the PC crowd... Or the logical answer is that the developers suck and made a crappy game full of design errors because their company was going out of business and instead of making a good game, they tried to cash in on a name.

Oh, don't deny it. The direction they took with the game is definitely oriented towards console gamers. Console gamers are easily pleased with short attention spans with little regards for depth, complexity, atmosphere and richness of the story, and uses the multiplayer aspect of FPS to judge their games. Case examples being massive commercial successes such as Halo, COD:Modern Warfare and Oblivion. By the way, if a game doesn't sell well. it doesn't mean that it is or not console oriented.

The massive amount of additional development effort and cost to modernize and expand upon the original Deux Ex, with a mature features, is hard to justify when the above said games are selling so well, and necessary funding for blockbuster games are getting to nebulous amounts it isn't even considered nowdays. Don't blame the console players? Considering how the console players are spending their money, don't blame the console players?

if u were microsoft, would you not bundle DX10 into Vista? Afterall, in 6 months time, everyone would be able to afford a Dx10 capable machine, so the cost issue is not the issue, so as the lack of games. PS3 don;t support DX10. This is a disadvantage of capitalism.

As far as i know, DX10 is a closed source, so how can someone adapt it for the XP if it was so? They would also need to hack into ATi's and Nvidia's graphics drivers.A daunting and illegal task.

why do people say Source is more flexible than Doom and Unreal? All source games look the same. Flat, low-poly with primary colors and false mon-dynamic water reflections.( they look like mods of HL2) and HL2 reminds me of Rainbow 6 :3 when it was released> Doom did portals and physics, great indoors in Prey and wide open spaces in Quake Wars. Now that is flexibility to me.

Sure its more scalable but its because it just ain't as capable and it;'s not even a current gen engine. Its between unreal 2.5 and Doom.

no wonder yo have piss poor performance drunken_end..you've only got 1 Gb of Ram. I have no hint of a lag in static lighting, so i play with object dynamic lighting/ but there's a serious nagging bug of video ram overloading or leaking...forces me to click apply settings in the video tab to resolve sudden crippling lag every 30 mins.

and the rain bug affected me only after a quarter into the game. No probs at the beginning,

what i hate the most is that you get rewarded from hidden stashes only when you had picked up a information about it. When you just come across it, Nada. No quest bugs from me.
