I look at the rest of the team and see them lower their weapons. I then look around the main hall. It is a very large room with stairs leading down a couple feet to the floor, and the floor has the R.P.D. symbol painted on the floor. I look farther ahead and see a couple of steps on either side of a desk leading to a small square of desks. On one is a computer.
"Wow. I wish our headquarters were this nice!" Ben states. "Well, if you're willing to give up half of your salary..." Rick trails off. "Never mind," Ben quickly snaps. We can't help but laugh. I hear Jamie cough. I turn to ask if she's okay, but she starts going into convulsions and collapses. "Jamie!" I yell. She continues and suddenly stops. Her eyes then suddenly open and she takes a bite out of Adam's leg and he yells as he is pulled to the floor.
"She's infected!" Rick yells. Adam tries to kick her off, and I raise my gun to shoot her,but beforeI can, she crawls over and bites his neck. Arterial spray splatters the wall andfloornext to him with blood as I put one round in her head. Adam lies writhing on the floor, and I decide to put him out of his misery. We have lost both of our survivors.
"How was she infected? She didn't have any bites on her," I say. "Don't be so sure," Rick corrects me as he kneels down to inspect the body. "Ah, here we are," he adds as he lifts up her shirt to reveal a small fraction of a bite mark on her back. "We have to take care of the bodies now," I say. I kneel down and puncture each of our former survivor's brainstems.
As I stand back up I see the rest of the team looking at their weapons. "Well, I think in all fairness, I should get the Hardballer," I say. "After all, I did find it." They all nod and I kneel down to claim my prize. Jamie's .357 goes to Rick, who has always had a thing for revolvers, Adam's shotgun goes to Ben, and Jamie's M14 goes to Mark, who quickly takes his scope off its weaver mount, and puts it on the weaver mount of the M14.
After we finish, I look around the main hall at the doors leading off itand ask, "Which door first?"
Now, my loyal readers, you get to choose. After all, I want to give you what you want. Which door?
1. The double doors leading off of the hall just to the left.
2. The single door leading off the hall just to the right.
3. The single door leading off the hall near the far wall by the desks.
And no, this does not mean I am changing this to a CYOA, it just means that this is a democracy.
