Because piracy can only happen in the PC industry?

The three typical reasons for piracy on the PC.

1) Because of mixed reviews and no DEMO players want to test the game before they make a purchase. 2) Anything with DRM stamped on it only means headache for gamers. Why buy something you can only use a few times when you can download it? 3) Games that are no longer sold in stores and/or are overpriced for what copies are sold in sites like Amazon.

So how do you minimize piracy? -notice I say minimize as people will always practice piracy-

1) Provide game demos for players so they know what they are comfortable in a purchase. 2) Remove DRM features which only deters players from buying the game at all. 3) All game developers should always have some type of digital download system for old games that are no longer sold. I know many of my friends have resorted to piracy because that was their only option in finding a game that is 6+ years old.

Every now and then in gaming we come to the slower moments in the market where the releases are not up to par with what the gamer expects. So we set our sights on the horizen with games in development. I have my eyes on SWTOR at the moment. I assume it will be released late-2010. But my question remains on what games to install on my computer to keep my craving satisfied until SWTOR.

I finally tried to play World of Warcraft. The Warcraft genre was my first fantasy realm to nerd out in with the lore. After seeing how the MMO managed to make the lore messy I decided not to play it. A friend finally talked me into it. I tried making multiple classes on both factions. The highest level I reached was thirteen. The game was decent. It just left a bad taste in my mouth. After having to run silly generic quests "Kill five pigs" "Collects ten flowers" I felt compelled to uninstall. Even one dungeon and some battlegrounds could not keep me interested. It was the idea that I would have to rinse and repeat this standard quest and combat system until end game. It was awesome to see the Warcraft world up close. But I would have rathered a real RPG instead of what I found WoW to be. Fun for a couple of levels. Not to mention the forum and server communities was one of the worst experinces I have had in gaming. I am sure there are great players out there, however I found only the worst of the internet all piled into one area.

So any ideas on a cozy game to play until SWTOR? I have Crysis and Battlefield II but do not plan on playing through them again. I tried Bioshock which only made me uninstall at Fort Frolic because I was creeped. At the moment I was playing some Jedi Knight Jedi Academy : Movie Battles II Mod which is one of the best SW FPS games that is still kicking.

For the past three years I have played Jedi Knight Jedi Academy (PC). The laid back enviroment that it offered could not be matched. It had its competitiv game mods, but the bulk of the game was made up of community/clan servers that just sat around the map dueling each other or unwinding from the day. It was like a 3d chat room with lightsabers and space ships. Are there any games that offer a multiplayer experince like this? Overall the easy going gaming and social aspect made it feel like a minature MMO with a better combat system and no stress from grinding or leveling. I and a few of my friends were hoping that you had some ideas so we can try a new game that offers a similiar multiplayer experince (Modded games are acceptable also). Please do not offer MMO titles.

Does that mean all of our ranks and guns go away? If so I will never turn on my computer again.

Dawn of War II (I prefer DOW 1) is a great game but there is a chance you will get burnt out on the gameplay. Warcraft III has a great singleplayer experince, but the multiplayer is by far the best for any RTS on the market. The easy to use editor has allowed endless variations of custom games for Battlenet. You might be playing a story mode map where you control an entire faction on one of the three continents in the Warcraft world and have to battle through the scourge, burning legion, or create your own set of events to beat out twelve other players. And the next game you could be playing through a thorough RPG and even be able to save your character for later use. This is why the Battlenet still hosts a very active player base with a strong mapping communtiy. Because of the wide variety of maps and different types of games you will find WC3 a better pick.

Depends on what kind of gaming you and your friend enjoy. Narrow it down more with what type of gameplay you enjoy.

Your going to create a video game from scratch then offer it for free? I hate to ruin your enthusiasm but these things cost money. Try taking little steps. I would suggest creating a game modification "modding" "mod". The Half Life 2's source engine could be your first starting area.

Finally I have a computer that can run games. I have been playing Crysis (On High) and Battlefield 2. I was thinking about purchasing some new games (mainly with online or a sandbox type singleplayer) Any ideas ;o
